  Richard A. Hanson, 55, of Klemme, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at the University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City.

  Funeral services were held Monday, March 7, at the United Methodist Church in Klemme with the Rev. Paddy Druhl officiating. Music was provided by organist, Madelyn Priebe, who accompanied soloist, Nikki Katter and congregational hymns. Ushers were John Schwichtenberg and Arlyn Waddingham.

  Honorary bearers were Craig Larson, Rich Chevallier, Kent Ridlon, Max Christy, Jim Prescott, Dick Esser, Kenneth Weiland, Toby Gouge, Dennis Badker, Shep Ysselstein, Doug Hanson and Ken Hanson. Casket bearers were Dennis Hanson, Ron Hanson, Herman Meyer, Kevin Hanson, Bob Frayne and Mike Little. Burial was in the Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme. The Cataldo Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

  Richard Allen Hanson, the son of John August and Ardella Darlene (Schneider) Hanson, was born August 23, 1949, in Mason City. He graduated from the Klemme High School in 1968. Rich worked with Craig Larson during and after high school doing auto body repair in Klemme.

  In 1968, he married Marilyn Draper in Belmond. The marriage was later dissolved.

  Rich worked briefly at Winnebago Industries in the paint and ship out department. He then went to IMT where he worked for 20 years as a paint foreman. In 1981, he started his own auto body specialty paint and repair business, "Rich's Auto Body" in Klemme. He continued to operate the business until 1998 when he began long distance trucking. He was a consultant and a friend to many in the truck driving business.

  Over the years he restored many classic cars, but the '55 Chevy was always his favorite. He was especially proud of the '55 Chevy that he and his son worked on together. Rich also loved Harley Davidson motorcycles. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

  Survivors include his parents, John and Ardella Hanson of Klemme; his maternal grandmother, Lydia Schneider of Garner; two children, Shelly Hanson (Jeremy Eenhuis) and their two children, Summer and Cole, of Klemme and Jason (Patti) Hanson and their two children, Caitlin and Blaine, of Klemme; a sister, Janelle (Herman) Meyer of Mason City; two brothers, Dennis E. Hanson of Garner and Ron (Barb) Hanson of Owosso, Michigan; a special friend, Julie Haugen of Klemme; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

  He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, William Schneider; and his paternal grandparents, William and Rebecca Hanson.

Wendy L. Wilson 1951-2005

  Wendy Lee Wilson, 53, of Britt, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at her residence in Britt.

  Funeral services were held Saturday, March 5, at the Ewing-Dugger Funeral Chapel in Britt. The Rev. Dr. John Meyer officiated. Casketbearers were Brandon Douglas, Dale Douglas, Marc Gibbons, Greg Wilson, Jeremy Gibbons and Joel Jacobs. Burial was in the East Lawn Cemetery at Sheldon.

  Wendy Wilson, the daughter of Arnold E. and Adelaide Helen Harms Wilson, was born October 10, 1951, in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. As a young girl, she moved with her family to South Dakota where she spent most of her childhood.

  Following graduation from the Melvin High School in 1969, Wendy attended NCC in Sheldon for secretarial training. She was employed in the accounting department of the Wilson Library at the University of Minnesota for 16 years. In 1994, Wendy moved to Britt where she was employed as secretary and receptionist for Oleo Acres Kennels in Britt.

  Wendy enjoyed fishing, bowling, word games, crafting and arranging silk flowers. She loved to bake and was an excellent cook. She especially enjoyed playing bingo, whenever she had the chance. Wendy was active in Civil War Reenactments and was a member of the 20th Texas Dismounted Cavalry.

  Wendy is survived by one son, Gregory Wilson of Bloomington, Minnesota; five siblings, Patti Noethe and John of Britt, Jan Pennings and Ivan of Sheldon, Daniel Gibbons and Mary of Sanborn, Barbara Nilles and Ken of Sanborn and Joel Gibbons and Linda of Sanborn; numerous nieces: nephews; aunts; uncles; and cousins.

  She was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Linda Kay; and two nieces.

Alexander John Tusha

  Verna B. Alke, 87, of Britt died Monday, March 7, 2005, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

  Funeral services were held Friday, March 11, at the First Lutheran Church in Britt with the Rev. Dr. John Meyer and Janelle Siffring, AiM, officiating. Music was provided by organist, Donna Tech who accompanied congregational hymns. Ushers were Melvin Pergande and Duane Hanson.

  Honorary bearers were Greg Michaelsen, Darwin Michaelsen, Tim Radig, Ed Alke, Kirk Thacker, Paul Thacker, Tom Thacker and Nathan Schwandt. Casket bearers were Curt Holck, Mark Holck, Troy Holck, Duane Seegebarth, Gary Michaelsen, Al Schoeneman, Steve Houdek and Darryll Alke. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Britt. The Cataldo Funeral Home in Britt was in charge of the arrangements.

  Verna B. Alke, the daughter of Adolph and Rose (Daliman) Holck, was born December 18, 1917 in Orthel Township, Hancock County. She graduated from the Britt High School in 1935 where she received her normal training. She taught at various country schools in the Britt area.

  On February 8, 1944, she was married to George Alke at the First Lutheran Church in Britt. They farmed south of Titonka until 1983 when they moved into Britt. In May of 2002, they moved to the Summit House in Britt.

  Verna was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Britt, ELCW and the Britt Senior Citizens. She was an active member of the Good Hope Lutheran Church in Titonka, before they moved to Britt. She also was a member of the Neighborhood Club in Titonka.

  She is survived by her husband, George Alke, of Britt; her daughter, Jan (John) Hana of Garner; a granddaughter, Jennifer (Mike) Dillon of Denver, Colorado; and many nieces and nephews.

  Verna was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Lucille Dewey, Erma Bohling and Irene Schoeneman; two brothers, Maynard and Harold Holck; and a nephew, Arlin Dewey.

Dallas G. Elwood 1922-2005

  Dallas G. Elwood of Corwith died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital, Britt. He was 82.

  Funeral services were held Friday, March 11, at the United Methodist Church in Corwith. The Rev. Dan Fernandez officiated. Music was provided by organist, Sharon Gourley who accompanied soloist, Diane Nall and several congregational hymns.

  Casket bearers were Wayne Elkin, Merlin Morgan, Merle Sohl, Mike Pearson, Craig Steenhard and Jay Gourley. Burial was in the Corwith Cemetery with graveside military honors provided by the Elmer Wilson American Legion Post #229. The Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home of Corwith was in charge of the arrangements.

  Dallas G. Elwood was born on November 7, 1922, at Eagle Grove, to George and Margaret Jordan Elwood. He received his education in Eagle Grove. Dallas served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army from 1942 until 1945. He served in the European Theater, where he earned the Bronze Star for bravery. After the service he returned to Eagle Grove.

  Dallas was united in marriage to Eunice Maxine Tabb on March 31, 1948, at Corwith. The couple lived for a time in Eagle Grove and then moved to Corwith in 1956. Dallas and Eunice owned and operated Elwood's Meat Processing and Grocery. They retired in 1983.

  Dallas was a member of the Corwith United Methodist Church. He also belonged to Elmer Wilson American Legion Post #229 at Corwith. Dallas was a member of the Iowa Meat Processing Association, where he had served as Director, Vice President and President. He also belonged to the Corwith Merchant's Club. Dallas's wife, Eunice preceded him in death on March 13, 2003. Due to failing health, Dallas became a resident of the Kanawha Community Home at Kanawha.

  Survivors include two sons, their spouses and four grandchildren, Scott Elwood and wife, Vicky and their two sons, Mike and Steven of Jefferson City, Missouri and Tom Elwood and wife, Ladine and their two daughters, Katie and Elizabeth of Liberty, Missouri.

  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eunice; an infant son, Rodney; and eight brothers and sisters.

  Hazel M. Greiman, 90, of Garner died Friday, March 11, 2005, at the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City.

  Funeral services were held on Monday at the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church in Garner with the Rev. Darrell Weber officiating. Music was provided by organist, Margaret Jass who accompanied congregational hymns.

  Casket bearers were Celine Hartwig, Amy Peterson, Paul Austin, Brad Muhm, Andrew Hartwig and Brad Peterson. Burial was in Concord Township Cemetery, Garner. The Cataldo Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

  Hazel Mae Greiman, the daughter of Charles and Anna (Anderson) Hodson, was born November 18, 1914, at Earlham. She attended the rural schools of Hancock County.

  On December 11, 1937, she was married to Laurence Greiman at Garner. They farmed in the Klemme and Garner area. In 1951, they moved into Klemme and a year later to Garner. In February of 2004, Hazel and Laurence became residents of the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City. Hazel enjoyed gardening, canning and cooking.

  She was a member of the Zion Evangelical Church, Zion Wornen's Fellowship, the Garner Senior Citizens and Grandmothers Club.

  Hazel is survived by her husband, Laurence; her two children, Bill (Liela) Greiman of Santa Rosa, California and Janice (Tim) Hartwig of Boone; three grandchildren, Sonja (Brad) Muhm of Garner, Andrew (Celine) Hartwig of Iowa City and Amy (Brad) Peterson of Ankeny; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

  She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Helen Gjerde, Lois Austin and Eva Anderson; and three brothers, Howard, Ralph and Donald Hodson.

  Joshua and Deanna Smith of Garner are the proud parents of a son, Tristan Isaac, born February 26. He weighed 8 pounds, 7.6 ounces and was 20 inches long. Tristan was welcomed home by his big sister, 3 1/2 year old, Trinity Rhianne.

  Kermit E. Greiman, 74, of Garner died Monday, March 14, 2005, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

  Memorial services were held Wednesday, March 16, at the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church in Garner with the Rev. Darrell Weber officiating. Music was provided by organist, Margaret Jass, who accompanied soloist, Beverly Cataldo, and congregational hymns. Ushers were Daryl Upmeyer, Calvin Josten and Willis Davison.

  Honorary bearers were E.D. "Red" Buntenbach, Larry Bell, Gary Lenz, Gus Erickson, G.W. "Bill" Templeton, Jim Steward, Ron McCabe, Bob Deibler, Phil Garland, Maynard Beyer and Bob Sniezek.
Interment was in the Concord Township Cemetery, Garner, with graveside military rites by the Garner Veterans Ceremonial Unit. The Cataldo Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

  Kermit Edwin Greiman, the son of Edwin George and Fern (Rowe) Greiman, was born April 13, 1930 in Garner. He was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church in Garner. Kermit graduated from the Garner High School in 1948. Following his schooling, he enlisted in the USAF and served his country during the Korean Conflict as a corporal in the 91st Air Refueling Squadron at the Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport, Louisiana. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Garner.

  On June 16, 1954, he married Arlene Prestholt at the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church in Garner. They lived in Garner where Kermit worked with his father, E.G. "Shorty" Greiman, in the excavation business until 1978. From 1979 to 1992 he was employed in the sales department at IMT in Garner and from 1992 to 2000 at Stellar Industries in Garner. Kermit traveled all over the United States and even to China in his job at both companies. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and most of all, flying airplanes. He had been an airplane pilot for 60 years.

  He was a member of the Zion Evangelical and Reforrried Church, the Garner American Legion, was a past member of the Garner Rotary Club and was on the original board of directors at IMT.

  He is survived by his wife, Arlene of Garner; three children, Jeffrey (Rita) Greiman of Boylston, Massachusetts, Jody (Rudolph Jr.) Marmaro of Colorado Springs, Colorado and George (Nina) Greiman of Garner; seven grandchildren, James and Christopher Greiman and Hannah, Nathan, Jordan, Abigail and Sarah Marmaro; a sister, Betty Hughes of Garner; two nieces; a nephew; and many cousins.

  He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother-in-law, George Hughes.

  Former Klemme resident Elsie Nuehring, of Osage, died Monday, March 14, 2005, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center Hospice Unit in Osage. She was 76.

  Funeral services were held Thursday, March 17, at the Eden Presbyterian Church, rural Rudd, with the Rev. John Bates officiating. Burial was in the Eden Presbyterian Cemetery. The Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage was in charge of the arrangements.

  Elsie was born July 29, 1928, in Belmond, the daughter of Tim and Meta (Fastenau) Gerdes. She was baptized November 4, 1928, at the Immanuel Reformed Church in Belmond. Elsie graduated from the Klemme High School in 1945.

  She was united in marriage to Dean Nuehring at the Immanuel Reformed Church in Klemme on February 24, 1948. Prior to her marriage, Elsie was employed at a grocery store in Goodell.

  She was an active member of the Eden Presbyterian Church. Elsie was an avid sports fan, loved to sew and quilt, played cards, helped with gardening, and enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables. Elsie was well known for the pies that she loved to bake.

  Survivors include her husband, Dean Nuehring of Osage; daughters, Avon (Jerry) Rurup of Titonka and children Jodi and Jeremy, Donna (Marloe) Ellingson of Joice and children Karen (Brian) Ahrens and twins Emily and Tyler, Jennifer (Randy) Hall and daughter, Kimberly and Dean Ellingson, Nancy (Neal) Hirota of Osage and children Nicole, Natalie, Nicholas and Nolan, Janet (Gerard) May of Osage and sons Jonathan and Jeffrey, Ronda Olson of Rose Creek, Minnesota and children Katherine and Derek, Brenda (Randy) Ricke of Garner and children Amber, Stephanie and Alexander; daughter-in-law, Sharon Mihm of Mason City and children Timothy (Sarah) Nuehring, Holly (Paul) Manny and Michael Nuehring.

  Survivors also include a brother, Henry (Dorothy) Gerdes of Belmond; sisters-in-law, Norma Gerdes of Belmond and Rosie Gerdes of Klemme.

  She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dennis Dean Nuehring; and two brothers, George and Elmer Gerdes.

  Gary L. Hollatz, 62, of Garner died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester, Minnesota.

  Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 19, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garner with the Rev. Henry Friedrich officiating. Music was provided by organist, Barb Mrosko who accompanied soloist, Doug Hayes, and congregational hymns. Ushers were Earl Jaspersen, Mark Boehnke and Tom Boehnke.

  Casket bearers were David Pueggel, Billy Olson, Arlen Doorenbos, Leland Doorenbos, Reuben "Butch" Whitehurst, Dean Hollatz, David Rosendahl and Philip Boehnke. Burial was in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, east of Garner. The Cataldo Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

  Gary Lee Hollatz, the son of LeRoy and Agnes (Pueggel) Hollatz, was born January 27, 1943 on the family farm north of Garner. He was baptized and confirmed at the St. John's Lutheran Church east of Garner. He attended St. John's Parochial School and graduated from the Garner-Hayfield High School in 1961. Following high school, Gary attended the Dunwoody Trade School in Omaha, Nebraska and was employed for seven years as a mechanic at Kenworth in Omaha. In 1970, he returned to Garner and became the third generation to farm the family farm.

  On April 7, 1973, he married Sharon Doorenbos at the St. John's Lutheran Church. He continued to farm until 1996. Gary served on the board of the Farmer's Coop Society in Garner for nine years, six years as president. He also was a crop insurance agent for Gatchel Insurance in Garner. In 1998, Gary and Sharon moved into Garner.

  Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, visiting with family and friends and supporting the Lord's work. Gary's faith in the Lord gave his life meaning and purpose. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garner where he was active as chairman of the congregation, deacon and was on the evangelism team and the assimilation team. He was a past member of St. John's Lutheran Church where he served as a trustee.

  He is survived by his wife, Sharon of Garner; three children, Jonathan Hollatz of Garner, Brian Hollatz of Porto Alegre, Brazil and Emily (Adam) Boge of Huxley.

  Survivors also include a brother, Stephen (Sophia) Hollatz of Naperville, Illinois; a niece and nephew, Allison and Timothy Hollatz; a step-brother, Vern (Pat) Severson of Clear Lake; a step-sister, Sandra (Roger) Aceto of Des Moines; three aunts, Dorothy Hollatz of Garner, Ann Radloff of Garner and Laura Boehnke of Clear Lake; and an uncle, Arnold (Marlys) Pueggel of Clear Lake.

  He was preceded in death by his parents; and his step-mother, Ann Hollatz.

  Elaine M. Keraus, 84, of Garner died Thursday, March 17, 2005, at the Westview Care Center, Britt.

  Funeral services were held Monday at the United Presbyterian Church in Garner with the Rev. Linzy Collins officiating. Music was provided by organist, Audrey Sonnenberg who accompanied soloist, Rev. Linzy Collins and a congregational hymn. Ushers were Brad Henderson, Todd Henderson, Matt Keraus, Kyle Keraus, Matt Farup and Craig McGuigan.

  Burial was in the Concord Township Cemetery, Garner. The Cataldo Funeral Home in Garner was in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the United Presbyterian Church in Garner or Hospice of North Iowa.

  Elaine Martha Keraus, the daughter of Edward Clyde and Martha Clara (Rockow) Buntenbach, was born January 15, 1921, at Klemme. She attended school in Klemme where she graduated from high school.

  On May 20, 1941, she was married to Verle "Bub" William Keraus at the United Church of Christ in Klemme. Throughout their 59 years together, Elaine was a solid partner and best friend to Bub. They were blessed with two sons and a daughter. Elaine, a homemaker, devoted her full time and attention to her husband and family. Her children describe her as a kind, gentlewoman with a wonderful sense of humor.

  She was a devoted wife, nurturing mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Elaine will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her family, special friend, Jim Howie and others who have shared her life. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Garner since 1949 where she served as an elder. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Garner.

  Elaine is survived by her three children, Michael (Susie) Keraus of Boone, Kay (Dale) Henderson of Plano, Texas and Lynn (Gail) Keraus of Garner; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward "Red" D. (Pat) Buntenbach of Garner; and many nieces and nephews.

  She was preceded in death by her husband, Bub on December 14, 2000; her parents; a sister, Lorraine Rygh; and a brother-in-law, Earl Rygh.

  Eric and Michelle Bailey were blessed with the birth of a daughter, Alix Ellin Bailey, born February 20, 2005, at the Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, Colorado. She weighed 7 pounds, 5 ounces. Alix was welcomed home by her brother, Jacob.

  Maternal grandparents are Billy and Diane Elling of Estherville. Paternal grandparents are Larry and Diane Bailey of Louisville, Colorado. Great-grandparents are Margaret Hrubes and Marguerite Elling of Garner and Bryon and Phyllis Bailey and Jim and Harriet Piersel of Loveland, Colorado.

  Ervin Walter Kahl, 91, of Spirit Lake, formerly of Britt, died Thursday, March 17, 2005, after a brief stay in the Hospice unit in the Dickinson County Regional Hospital, Spirit Lake.

  Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 23, at the Ewing-Dugger Funeral Chapel in Britt. The Rev. Jeff Ungs officiated. Music was provided by organist, Leanne Buns, who accompanied soloist, John Weishaar. Casket bearers were Don Hiscocks, Monte Hiscocks, Roger Jacobson, Paul Peterson, Paul Smith and Harold Wallen. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Britt. Memorials may be directed to Opportunity Village, Clear Lake, or the Hancock County Agricultural Museum in Britt.

  Ervin Kahl was a long time resident of Britt, later Clear Lake, and Minnetonka. Minnesota. Ervin was born on February 27, 1914, in Malta, Illinois. He later moved to Mason City and in 1931, moved to Britt with his brother Neil and his parents, Walter and Nellie Kahl. He attended school in Mason City and graduated from the Britt High School in 1932. He attended the University of Iowa.

  In 1938, Ervin married Elizabeth (Betty) Nix from Britt. Together they farmed in the Britt community for over 50 years and were members of the First Lutheran Church in Britt and the Galilean Lutheran Church in Clear Lake. Ervin enjoyed contributing to his community. He served as the Rural School Director for Erin Township #2 and as president and board member of the Britt Public Schools. He also served on the board of the Britt Co-op, Britt Creamery, the Hancock County Care Center, the Britt Country Club and Golf Course and served as a director of the 1st State Bank in Britt for 19 years.

  Ervin was president and treasurer of the Hancock/Winnebago County Arc Association for People With Disabilities for 22 years. He also served as president of the Hancock County Farm Bureau. After moving to Clear Lake he became a member and officer of the Ventura Lions Club. He enjoyed piloting his single engine plane in his early years, fishing and golf.

  He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Betty); daughters, Karmon Amsler and husband, John of Sioux City, Mona Jean Kahl from Spirit Lake and granddaughter, Shonda Warner of London, England; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

  Also sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mildred Phillips and husband, Lyle of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Geneva King of Evansville, Indiana, Chris Nix and wife, Dorothy of Evansville, Indiana, Bill Nix of Evansville, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews including Marsha Peterson and husband, Paul, of Britt.

  Also step-grandchildren, John and Mary Amsler of Davidsonville, Maryland, Greg and Chell Amsler of Stevenson Ranch, California; Paige and Dar Sampson of Libertyville, Illinois and their families.

  He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Nellie Kahl; son. Lon Ervin Kahl; and brother, Neil Kahl.

  Evelynn R. Dillin, 96, of Garner died Saturday, March 19, 2005, at the Concord Care Center, Garner.

  Memorial services will be held at a later date. The Cataldo Funeral Home in Garner is in charge of the arrangements.

  Evelynn Rotruck Dillin, the daughter of Charles and Edythe (Jones) Wright was born August 12, 1908 in Danville, Illinois. She graduated from high school and attended a business college. She was married to James Ralph Dillin. They lived in Nevada where they owned and operated a hardware store. Evelynn was also employed at the Nevada Journal for 28 years.

  After her husband's death in 1976, Evelynn moved to Longview, Washington and in 1984 to Hot Springs, Arkansas. In 1998, she moved to the Prairie View Apartments in Garner to be near her grandson, Dr. Scott Wood. She enjoyed sewing, music and giving piano and organ lessons. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Soroptimist Club and Royal Neighbors of America.

  Evelynn is survived by her daughter, Jackie (David) Stuelke of Hot Springs, Arkansas; a step-daughter, Martha (Richard) Churchill of Oklahoma; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-greatgrandchildren.

  She was preceded in death by her husband, James; her son, James Dillin Jr. in 1988; and two brothers.

Stellar Executive Killed In Motorcycle Accident

  Kenneth Lee, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Stellar Industries, Garner, died in a motorcycle accident in southeastern California, on Saturday, March 19.

  Lee, 55, recently attended a trade show in Las Vegas and had stayed to go on a three-day motorcycle tour of Death Valley. He was riding at night with friends in a remote area approximately 13 miles north of Trona, California. He apparently lost control of his motorcycle on a curve, according to Stellar President Dave Zrostlik.

  Lee moved from the Twin Cities to Garner when he accepted the position at Stellar in August 2003.

  Kenneth D. Lee of Garner died March 19, 2005, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident near Trona, California. He was 55.

  A prayer service was held Friday, March 25, at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Garner. The Rev. Jerry Blake officiated.

  Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 29, at the Pax Christi Catholic Church in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Another service will be held in Walhalla North Dakota over the Memorial Day weekend.

  Born on August 18, 1949, to Yvonne (Verville) Lee and Clarence Lee, Kenneth grew up in Walhalla, North Dakota. He married Hope Johnston in 1967. Kenneth graduated with a degree in Accounting from UND, became a CPA and received an MBA from The College of St. Thomas. He worked a number of years for Arctic Enterprises, forming many life long friendships. He was employed as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer at Stellar Industries in Garner for the past 20 months.

  Survivors include a daughter, Deirdre Lee; a son, Morgan Lee (Kate), who resides in the Twin Cities; two granddaughters, Vaun and Blayne Lee; two brothers, Robert and Terry Lee; foster mothers, Alma, Gloria and Ethyl; many other family members; a special friend, Julie Nowatske; and beloved dog, Cameron.

  Daniel R. Barz, 49, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, formerly of Garner, died Saturday, March 19, 2005, at his home in Minneapolis.

  Family and extended fainily funeral services were held Wednesday, March 23, at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner with the Rev. Darrell Weber officiating. Music was provided by organist, Margaret Jass and vocalist, Beverly Cataldo. Casket bearers were Kenny Engstler, Robert Hagen, Matt Hagen, Scott Campbell, Al Tompkins and Larry Tompkins. Burial was in the Concord Township Cemetery, Garner.

  Daniel Ray Barz, the son of Allen Kenneth and Ihlajean (Johnson) Barz was born July 29, 1955, at Belmond. He was baptized at the Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ in Klemme and confirmed at the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church in Garner. He graduated from the Garner-Hayfield High School in 1973 and Iowa State University at Ames in 1978 with a degree in Environmental Studies. After graduation, he moved to Denver, Colorado, where he was involved in environmental sales. In July of 2004 he moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota.

  In high school Dan enjoyed playing in band, swing choir and sports. He also enjoyed the sports and activities offered by the mountainous environment of Colorado. Dan was a member of the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church in Garner and was a former choir member.

  He is survived by his mother, Ihlajean Barz of Garner; two brothers, Mark Barz and his wife, Dalena of Ventura and Mike Barz of Minneapolis; four nieces and nephews, Nathan Barz of Ventura, Erika (Bob) Kirby of Omaha, Nebraska, Nora Muessingmann of Omaha and Melissa Dakin of Fort Collins, Colorado; his grandmother, Gay Horgen of Albert Lea, Minnesota; several aunts and uncles and many cousins.

  He was preceded in death by his father, Allen Barz on February 2, 2005.

  Wilbur Peterson, 84, of Crystal Lake, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at the Hospice of North Iowa in Mason City.

  Funeral services were held Monday, March 28, at the Crystal Lake United Methodist Church, the Rev. Catherine Luck and the Rev. Diane Goulson officiated. Music was provided by pianist, Kristi Kirschbaum who accompanied soloist, Bruce Wubben. LaVurne Josten and Roger Leerar ushered. Casket bearers were Richard Peterson, Craig Binnebose, Daniel Peterson, Danny Cunningham, Steve Boyken and Brian Hobbs. Burial was in the Buffalo Township Cemetery, Titonka. The Ewing-Dugger Funeral Chapel of Britt was in charge of the arrangements.

  Wilbur W. Peterson, the son of Oley and Martha Overgaard Peterson, was born on April 28, 1920, in Elmore, Minnesota and later was baptized in Radcliffe. At an early age, Wilbur moved with his parents to a farm near Crystal Lake. He attended the Bingham Township Country School #1 and graduated from the Crystal Lake High School with the Class of 1939.

  On February 20, 1946, Wilbur was united in marriage with Lula Eden at the Methodist Church parsonage in Belmond. The couple established their home on the same farm Wilbur was raised on northwest of Crystal Lake. While on the farm, Wilbur sold Archer Oil products for over 39 years. He did custom oat windrowing, raised seed beans, sold seed corn and fed out cattle on the farm. He served on the board of directors for the Forest City Cooperative Elevator for a number of years. In 1984, the couple moved into Crystal Lake.

  Wilbur attended the United Methodist Church in Crystal Lake where he served in various capacities. In recent years he was unable to attend services due to health reasons. He enjoyed coffee time at the Senior Citizens Center, daily drives in the country to feed the farm cats and look over the crops and annual Canadian fishing trips with family and friends.

  Wilbur is survived by his son, Richard and wife, Carol of Garner and their children, Gina and Danny Cunningham and their children, Skylar and Eliza of Perry and Daniel and Liz Peterson and daughter, Halley Anne of Marion; his daughter, Janelle Binnebose and husband, Craig of Mason City; sisters-in-law, Annette Peterson of Canistota, South Dakota, Edna Eden of Britt and Florence Eden of Titonka; and several nieces, nephews and other family members.

  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lula on June 1, 1991; two brothers, Ernest and Roy; one sister, Mildred Eden; and two siblings in infancy.

  A Mass of Christian Burial for Anna M. Verly, 87, of Minneota, Minnesota was held Monday, March 28, 2005, at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Minnesota. Interment was in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall.

  Anna Verly died on Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at the Minneota Manor.

  Anna Marie Doom was born on October 12, 1917, in Fairview Township, Lyon County, to Camille and Alixa (Lemahieu) Doom. In 1923, she moved with her parents to Belgium for approximately one year, then returned to the Marshall area.

  On September 16, 1941, she was united in marriage to Albert C. Verly at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. She farmed with Albert and the couple raised their family in the Marshall area. Anna enjoyed camping, sewing, baking bread, playing cards, reading, gardening and visiting with family and friends. She was a member of the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and Ladies' Guild.

  She is survived by her children, Roger (Shirley) Verly of Marshall, Bernice (Nicholas) Reuter of St. Cloud, Shirley (Denny) Timmerman of Boyd, Charlene (Dennis) Popowski of Garner, Fran (Sharon) Verly of Marshall, Rose (Lynn) Goltz of Tracy, Pat (Gary) Timmerman of Green Valley, Therese DeBaere of Ghent, Elaine (Doug) Sietesma of Watertown, South Dakota, Lou (Gary) Wischer of Marshall and Cathy Verly of Litchfield; daughters-in-law, Carol (John) Carlson and Barb (Clayton) Minnehan; 47 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren.

  Survivors also include brothers, Ed (Leona) Doom and Ray (Harriett) Doom all of Cottonwood; sisters-in-law, Marie Doom of Minneota, Mary E. Doom of Marshall and Annie Verly of Marshall; and nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert; sons, Joe, Chuck, Leroy and Denny; grandchildren, Jason Timmerman, Shawn DeBaere; great-grandchildren, Dylan Bailey, Isaiah King; brothers, Gerard (infant), Hector (infant), Oscar and Michael Doom; sisters, Julia Doom (infant), Marie and Bertha Girard.

  Rose A. Geddes, 92, of Garner died Thursday, March 24, 2005, at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital, Britt.

  Funeral services were held Monday at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Garner with the Rev. Jerry Blake officiating. Donna Young was the lector. Music was provided by organist, Carolyn Kumsher, who accompanied the church choir. Ushers were Robert Kral and Lawrence Engstler. Casket bearers were her grandchildren. Burial was in the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Garner. The Cataldo Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

  Rose Ann Geddes, the daughter of Michael Casper and Mayme Helen (Hrubes) Malek, was born April 23, 1912, at Duncan. She attended school at Hayfield where she graduated from high school in 1931.

  On April 17, 1933 she was married to Harold Emmett Geddes at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Garner. They farmed in the Hayfield area until 1941, and then moved to Miller where they continued to farm. In 1968 they retired and moved into Garner.

  She was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church and Rosary Society.

  Rose is survived by her daughters, Sharon Kay (Gorden) Anderson of Scarville, Sally Boomgarden of Britt and Kathy (Ellsworth) Hanson of Garner; eight grandchildren, Diane (Bruce) Steele, Julie (Kent) Swenson, Gorden Jr. (Denise) Anderson, Geoffrey (Jodie) Anderson, Annette (Brian) Larson, Jolene Kaliff, Sheila Graff and Todd Hanson; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Larry Malek of Dodgeville, Wisconsin; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Malek of Lemont, Illinois; many nieces, nephews, friends and GG Club members.

  She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, on December 18, 1978; a daughter, Jane Ann Geddes in 2002; her parents; a sister, Marie (Joe) Zrostlik; and three brothers, James (Ella), Rudy (Marjorie) and Alfred (June) Malek.

  Curtis C. Greimann, 89, of Garner died Saturday, March 26, 2005, at the Concord Care Center, Garner.

  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, March 30, at the Peace Reformed Church, south of Garner with the Rev. Jeff DeBoer officiating. Music will be provided by organist, Connie Greiman who will accompany soloist, Tom Renner and congregational hymns. Ushers will be Virgil Stahl and Steve Lenz.

  Casket bearers will be Jeff Kracht, Monte Mosher, Dean Mosher, Mark Greimann, Ben Exline, Michael Greimann and Brandon Greimann. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. 4th St., Garner and one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Peace Reformed Church or Hospice of North Iowa.

  Curtis Calvin Greimann, the son of Rev. Herman and Caroline (Haberkamp) Greimann, was born September 17, 1915 in Dale, Wisconsin. He was baptized at the Reformed Church in Dale and confirmed in the faith at the Peace Reformed Church. Curtis attended rural schools near Schaller and Garner. He graduated from the Garner High School in 1933. After graduation, he worked as a hired farm hand in the Storm Lake area and then the Garner area until 1936, when he started farming on this father's farm southeast of Garner.

  On February 10, 1938, he married Ruth Hall at her parent's farm near Miller. They farmed together for 48 years retiring in 1983. In October of 1995, they moved from the farm into Garner and in October of 2004 to the Cardinal Grove Assisted Living. Curtis entered the Concord Care Center on March 7, 2005. Curtis enjoyed life and "people". He especially enjoyed times with his family.

  He was a life time member of the Peace Reformed Church and served in many positions in support of his church. Curtis loved his Lord and Savior and he and Ruth set an example for their family. Curtis served on the Farmers Co-op Elevator Board in Garner, Ventura School Board, Hancock County Fair Board, North Iowa Mental Health Center Board, County Compensation Board, Concord Care Committee and was active in the Farm Bureau. He was a 4-H leader and a member of the Garner Rotary Club.

  Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Ruth of Garner; five children, Delores (Dennis) Mosher of Clear Lake, Vernon (Shirley) Greimann of Eldora, Calvin (Nadia) Greimann of Lititz, Pennsylvania, Phyllis (Bill) Byrd of Newcastle, Washington and Barbara (Wayne) Hassebrock of Kamrar; seven grandchildren, Rochelle (Jeff) Kracht of Clear Lake, Monte (Dorcey) Mosher of Des Moines, Dean (Hollie) Mosher of Clear Lake, Mark (Lana) Greimann of Huxley, Kristi (Ben) Exline of Streamwood, Illinois, Michael Greimann of Overland Park, Kansas and Brandon Greimann of West Chester, Pennsylvania; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; five step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren.

  Also surviving are a brother, Eugene (Doris) Greimann of Garner; sisters, Charlotte Swanson of Austin, Minnesota and Dorothy Anderson of Garner; step-brother, William Huenemann of Indiana; step-sister, Ruth Huenemann of California; step-brother-in-law, Alvert Streyle of Minnesota; step-sisters-in-law, Lois Huenemann of Garner, Frances Huenemann of Virginia and Mary Lou Huenemann of Wisconsin; Ruth's sister, Anna Mae (Curtis) Upmeyer of Garner; brother, Orville (Josephine) Hall of Garner; brothers-in-law, Clarence Schroeder of Klemme and Dick Halloway of California; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

  He was preceded in death by his father, Herman on May 12, 1927; mother, Caroline on January 30, 1924: step-mother, Anna (Maurer) Greimann Huenemann on April 21, 1971; sister, Adeline (Charles) Carothers; brother-in-law, Norman Anderson; step-brothers, Reuben, Calvin, Karl, Elmer, Edward and Lorenz Huenemann; step-sisters, Miriam Huber, Lois Streyle, Erma Buehrer and Dorothea Volkert; and Ruth's sisters, Olive Halloway and Alice Schroeder.

  Memorial services for Anna M. Falada, W. Des Moines, formerly of Garner, who died January 26, 2005, will be held on Thursday, March 31 at 10:30 a.m., at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, West Des Moines.

  Interment services will be at the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Garner on Friday, April 1, at 1:30 p.m. The family will receive friends following the service at the Garner VFW Club.

  The Meyer children are inviting friends and relatives to an open house honoring Dale and Shirley (Olson) Meyer's 50th Wedding Anniversary. Supper and music will start at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, at the Carpenter Community Center.

  Dale graduated from Garner, where his family farmed. Shirley graduated from Dows where her family owned the bowling alley. They were married on January 16, 1955, at the First Methodist Church in Dows. They lived and farmed in Garner and 12 years later moved to Kensett, where they continued to farm.

  They have 5 children, Dennis (Kathy) Meyer of Northwood, Barb (Lyle) Jass of Alden, Janet (Dave) Solberg of Mason City, Doug (Pam) Meyer of Northwood and Sandy (Dave) Smith of Plymouth, Minnesota. They also have 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. They've retired and continue to live in Kensett. They enjoy fishing and time at their lake home at Paynesville, Minnesota.

  Grace Kalkwarf celebrated her 102nd birthday on March 19. Grace was born on a farm near Meservey in 1903. She and her husband, Dick, farmed near Belmond where they raised two sons, Loren Kalkwarf of Garner and the late DuWayne Kalkwarf. She has five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Kalkwarf became a resident of the Concord Care Center in Garner in 2004.

  Margreete Tjaden, celebrated her 102nd birthday on March 24. Margreete Tjaden was born in 1903, in Titonka. She moved with her family to Woden and later to Garner during the 1950s. Margreete Tjaden taught country school, was a 4-H leader and involved in church and community activities. She was a resident at Prairie View for 33 years before becoming a resident at the Concord Care Center in 2000.

  On Sunday, March 20, the grades of preschool through 8th grade of the Sunday School, United Presbyterian Church, Garner, had one of the best Sunday School lessons about doing something special for others by going to the Concord Care Center to wish Margreete a very special birthday. Margreete was the teacher of the day when she recited all the books of the Old Testament and said she had read the complete Bible at least two times. She shared what it was like growing up when she was a child and how she helped her parents on the farm, as well as other things about her life and family.

  Felix Schultz, 81, of Duncan died Sunday, March 27, 2005, at the Hospice of North Iowa in Mason City.

  A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, March 30, at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Duncan. The Rev. Jerry Blake officiated. Anton Trca was the lector. Music was provided by organist, Mary Kopacek who accompanied soloist, Louise Zrostlik and the St. Wenceslaus Church Choir. Melvin Wellik and Leo Wellik ushered.

  Casket bearers were Jeff Schultz, Matt Schultz, Mike Schultz, Robert Formanek, Jr., Tom Formanek and Dean Brooks. Burial was in the St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Duncan. The Ewing-Dugger Funeral Chapel of Britt was in charge of the arrangements.

  Felix Hubert Schultz, the son of Gregory and Anna (Kulla) Schultz, was born October 30, 1923, in Wells, Minnesota. He attended country schools in the Wells area and helped his dad on the family farm. Felix served in the United States Army with the 6th Cavalry Reconnaissance Division in Germany during WW II.

  On February 6, 1947, Felix was united in marriage with Jane Nowak in Wells. The couple farmed in the Wells area until 1967, when they moved to the Britt area. He was employed at Iowa Mold Tooling in Garner for 20 years. He retired in 1984.

  Felix enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking, gardening, and fishing. He was a member of the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan and the Knight's of Columbus.

  Survivors include a daughter, Judy Deetz and husband, Steve of Charles City; son, William Schultz of Britt; grandchildren, Rachel and Scott; sister, Victoria Sonnek and husband, Donald of Wells, Minnesota; brothers, Leo Schultz and wife, Ardean, David Schultz and wife, Sharon, Eugene "Bud" and wife, Bonita of Longmont, Colorado, Donald Schultz and wife, Laurie of Colorado, Roger and wife, Corrine of Albert Lea, Minnesota, Lavern Schultz and wife, Fran of Loveland, Colorado; sisters-in-law, Diane Schultz of Reinbeck, Marilyn Schultz of Wells, Minnesota; several nieces, nephews, and other family members.

  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jane in 2002; three brothers, Fritz, Quentin, and LeRoy; and one brother, Robert who died in infancy.

  John R. Abele, 89, of Garner died Monday, March 28, 2005, at the Concord Care Center, Garner.

  Funeral services were held Thursday, March 31, at the United Methodist Church in Garner. The Rev. David Wagner officiating. Music was provided by organist, Mary Kopacek who accompanied soloist, Warren Torkelson. Ushers were Maynard and Marvin Schoneman.

  Casket bearers were Daryl Upmeyer, John Schwichtenberg, Harlan Carolus, Marvin Rayhons, Greg Rayhons and Mike Oborny. Burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. The Cataldo Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

  John Richard Abele, the son of Arthur and Ada (Blank) Abele, was born April 9, 1915, on his parents' farm northwest of Garner. He attended school at Garner where he was active in football and music. He was proud of the fact that when he was a senior, the Garner football team did not allow any team to cross their goal line. He received honorable mention in football by the Des Moines Register and was offered a scholarship to Drake University. John was also a member of the Garner relay team, which participated in the Drake Relays and represented Garner at state. He graduated from the Garner High School in 1933.

  On March 20, 1943, he married Ivadell Reemtsma at Mason City. John retired from a life time of farming in 1980 and moved into Garner. He enjoyed farming and feeding cattle. He was a life time member of the United Methodist Church in Garner and was on the board of directors at the Farmer's Co-op Society in Garner.

  John is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ivadell; his children, Marby (Tom) Lange of Leewood, Kansas, Nile (Ann) Abele of Columbia, Missouri, Adree Abele of St. Louis, Missouri and Jill (William, Jr.) Butcher of Suffield, Connecticut; eight grandchildren, Shelly Heidenrich, Kristen (Greg) Trainor, Ethan, Ellie and Eric Abele and Aubrey, William III and Dory Butcher; a great grandson, Jack Trainor; a sister, Marguerite (Lindley) Wogen of LeGrande; and a sister-in-law, Beverly (Jack) Greiman of Clear Lake.

  He was preceded in death by two sons, Brent in 1988 and Thad in 2003; his parents; two brothers, Oren and Caryle Abele; and a sister, Robin Hartshorne.

  Oscar James Olson, 80, of Garner died Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at the St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minnesota.

  His memorial service was held Saturday, April 2, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garner with the Rev. Henry Friedrich officiating. Music was provided by organist, Barb Mrosko who accompanied soloist, Beverly Cataldo and congregational hymns. Ushers were John Haugen and Gary Mrosko.

  Honorary bearers were his grandchildren, Christina Elliott, Wade Elliott, Melissa Elliott, James Schiller, Kara Schiller, David Schiller, Abby Olson, Sarah Olson, Jason Thompson, Jeremy Thompson, Kimberly Vore, Brad Olson, Ashley Olson, Michael Olson, Kelli Wreghitt and Steven Wreghitt. Interment was in the Concord Township Cemetery, Garner. Military rites were conducted by the Garner Veterans Ceremonial Unit. The Cataldo Funeral Home in Garner was in charge of the arrangements.

  Oscar James Olson, the son of Oscar and Anna (Gansveld) Olson, was born May 3, 1924 at Britt. He graduated from the Britt High School in 1943.

  After graduation, he was inducted into the U.S. Army. He served his country in the medical detachment of the 496th Quartermaster Battalion in the European Theatre during WW II. Following his honorable discharge on November 10, 1945, he returned to Britt to continue his education at the Britt Junior College.

  On July 8, 1968, he married Elaine (Ashland) Wreghitt at Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Jim was employed as a measurement technician for Northern Natural Gas in Ventura for over 30 years retiring in 1983. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and playing softball in church league. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church where he served as a trustee. He also was a member of the Edwin Jante VFW Post No. 5515.

  Survivors include his wife, Elaine of Garner; seven children, Jean Elliott of Brown Deer, Wisconsin, Barbara Schiller of McHenry, Illinois, Deborah Olson of May City, Jennifer (Chris) Golien of Clear Lake, James (Barbara) Olson of Belgium, Wisconsin, Roger (Cathy) Olson of Vero Beach, Florida and Bill (Lori) Wreghitt of Ventura; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

  He is also survived by four sisters, Betty Lowe of Mason City, Arlene Schutjer of Mason City, Marjorie Halfpop of Belmond and Marcella (George) Krambeer of Shellsburg; two brothers, Kenneth (Charlotte) Olson of Mason City and Merrill (Frieda) Olson of Britt; a sister-in-law, Shirley Olson of Britt; and many nieces and nephews.

  He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Roger Schiller; sister, Bonnie Olson; brother, Robert Olson; sister-in-law, Jeannette Ashland Caspers; and brothers-in-law, J.C. Lowe, Kenneth Schutjer, Lloyd Halfpop and Robert Ashland.

  Grace J. Kalkwarf, 102, of Belmond died Thursday, March 31, 2005, at the Concord Care Center, Garner.

  Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 5, at the United Methodist Church in Belmond with the Rev. Mike Druhl officiating. Music was provided by organist, Dona Cleveland who accompanied soloist, Loren Kalkwarf. Alberta Kalkwarf accompanied several congregational hymns. Roger Moderman ushered.

  Casket bearers were Delbert Pals, Jerry Pals, Kevin Pals, Vernon Van Horn, Darold Pals, Jim Suntken, Bill Neuberger and Ron Simons. Burial was in the Belmond Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Dugger-Ewing Funeral Home of Belmond.

  Grace Johanna Kalkwarf was born March 19, 1903, to John P. and Johanna (Frey) Pals on a farm southwest of Meservey. As an infant, Grace was baptized at the First Reformed Church in Meservey. When she was a young lady, Grace graduated from the Heidelberg Catechism and was a faithful member of the First Reformed Church. She attended rural school and attained an eighth-grade education. She continued to work on the family farm.

  On Christmas Day, December 25, 1925, Grace was united in marriage with Dick Kalkwarf at the Meservey First Reformed Church parsonage. The couple farmed in the Alexander and Belmond area for many years.

  In 1952, they retired and moved to a new home in Belmond. Together they enjoyed fishing and their many trips to Minnesota lakes, and playing cards with their many friends and relatives. Following retirement, Grace enjoyed her new hobbies of bowling and made many state bowling trips with other women bowlers and golfing. In her honor, the Belmond Country Club Association named one day a year the "Grace Kalkwarf Day."

  She enjoyed playing cards and played for the Belmond Hospital Auxiliary for many years. Grace enjoyed crocheting and tatting many doilies over the years.

  In November of 1999, she became a resident of the Belmond Community Apartments. Due to ill health, Grace entered the Concord Care Center in Garner in August of 2004.

  Since moving to Belmond, Grace was member of the Belmond United Methodist Church. She will be remembered for her love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She leaves a legacy of unconditional giving and steadfast love and commitment to her family.

  Survivors include one son, Loren Kalkwarf and Alberta of Garner; one daughter-in-law, Denise Kalkwarf of Mesa, Arizona; grandchildren, Charlotte Hanson of Clear Lake, Lu Ann Archer and Mark of Littleton, Colorado, Mike Kalkwarf and Maxine of Garner, Sharon Bosehardt and Norman of Gilbert, Arizona, Diane Scott and Tim of Payson, Arizona; great-grandchildren, Spencer Klooster and his fiancee, Cali Kramer of Garner, Justin Klooster and his fiancee, Katie Stikes of Klemme, Hayley Klooster of Cedar Falls, Katie Ryder of Boulder, Colorado, Tracey Bosehardt of Gilbert, Arizona, Meredith Kalkwarf of Garner, Marty Kalkwarf of Garner; sisters-in-law, Grace Pals of Belmond, Ruth Pals of Belmond; brother-in-law, Jess Suntken of Meservey; and many nieces and nephews.

  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dick in 1968; son, DuWayne in 2001; grandson, Gene Kalkwarf in 1967; two sisters, Gertrude Musgjerd and Esther Suntken; three brothers, Bert, Peter and Richard Pals; and one brother-in-law, Art Musgjerd.
