Enri Marreel
June 12, 2007
Enri Marreel, of Chandler, Arizona, passed away in the
hospital on Sunday, June 3, 2007, at the age of 81, while
courageously battling heart disease.
Funeral Mass Services were held at the St. Timothy Catholic
Church of Mesa, Arizona, on Thursday, June 7, at 1:30 p.m.
The internment followed directly after the mass at Green
Acres.
Mr. Marreel was born on
May 2, 1926. He grew up in northern Iowa. After graduating
from high school, he went directly into the military. Enri
was a decorated veteran and proud member of the Army during
World War II serving in Japan and the Philippines.
He later met his wife while driving his convertible as he
volunteered for the Band Festival Queens in the annual North
Iowa Band Festival Parade. They were later married at the
Holy Family Catholic Church in Mason City, on October
6,1951. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the BPO
Elks and The American Legion. He was an active member of the
St. Timothy Catholic Church.
He spent his business
career as a Sales Supervisor for The Clear Lake Bakery
(Clear Lake, Iowa), Alstadt & Langlas Bakery (Waterloo,
Iowa) and Rainbow Bakery (Phoenix, Ariz.). Since his
retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family,
especially his grandsons. They enjoyed golfing together and
being avid sports fans.
He was preceded in death
by his parents; three brothers; and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife
of 55 years, Mary Anne (Navratil) Marreel. They have three
children, Anne Marreel of Tempe, Arizona, Rosanne (Steve)
Carlson of Tempe, Arizona and Tom (Julia) Marreel of
Chandler, Arizona. They also have four grandsons,
Christopher and Patrick Carlson, and Andrew and Michael
Marreel.
He is also survived by
brothers, George (Alverna) Marreel of Osage and Walter
(Dolores) Marreel of Austin Minnesota; his sister-in-law,
Rose Marie Kruger of Northwood; and by several nieces and
nephews.
Tribute memorials can be
sent to either the Hospice of the Valley, Phoenix, Arizona
or the St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance, Phoenix, Arizona.

Elmer K. Clausen
June 12, 2007
Elmer K. Clausen, 97, of
St. Ansgar, died on Thursday, June 7, 2007, at the Good
Samaritan Center, St. Ansgar.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 11, at 11:00
a.m., at the First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, with Rev.
Robert Porisch officiating. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar
Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m., on
Sunday, June 10, at the Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St.
Ansgar.
Elmer Kenneth Clausen, was
born on April 21, 1910, to Rosa and Jacob Clausen in
Stacyville, Iowa. He was baptized into the Christian faith
at the Presbyterian Church, rural Stacyville, and also
confirmed at the Presbyterian Church.
After completing 8th grade
at Union School, he worked on the family farm.
He was married to Marie
Hofland on June 10, 1935, by Rev. Ullonsong at the home of
Marie's parents in Reeder, North Dakota. After their
marriage, Elmer and Marie made their home on a farm near
Stacyville, Iowa.
Elmer played slide
trombone in the Lybarger Orchestra and loved to fish. He
farmed for 35 years and also worked for Hatten in Stacyville
doing electrical and plumbing work.
In 1967, Elmer and Marie
moved to St. Ansgar and he worked part-time for Falk
Quarries. They enjoyed spending time at their trailer in
Waterville, Minnesota, catching lots of fish and visiting
with friends and family.
Elmer lived at the
Worth/Manor Home for 15 years. Elmer passed away on June 7,
2007 at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center, where he lived
for a month.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and
one brother.
Survivors include two
sons, Ronald and wife, Audrey Clausen of Rochester,
Minnesota and Rodney of Red Wing, Minnesota; three
daughters, Myrna and husband, Eugene Heskett of Madera,
California, Shirley and husband, Norman Kittleson of St.
Ansgar and Ann and husband, Dean Boynton of Anoka,
Minnesota; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 4
great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Home of St. Ansgar was in charge of the

Aaron Nolt
June 12, 2007
Aaron Nolt, 43, of Osage,
died on Friday, June 8, 2007, at the St. Mary's Hospital in
Rochester, Minnesota.
The family will receive friends at the Aaron Nolt home,
Osage, from 2-4:00 p.m. and from 6:30-8:00 p.m., on Monday,
June 11. Please omit flowers. Family services for Aaron Nolt
will be held at 9:30 a.m., on Tuesday, June 12, at the home
of Wesley Nolt in Orchard, Iowa. Funeral services will
follow at 10:00 a.m., at the Cedar Valley Old Order
Mennonite Church in Orchard.
Aaron Zimmerman Nolt, was
born on May 16, 1964 in Earl Township, Pennsylvania, the son
of the late Reuben and Lydia Ann (Zimmerman) Nolt. On
October 17, 1985, Aaron was united in marriage to Alma Leid.
In 1995 they moved from Pennsylvania to Osage.
Aaron is survived by his
wife, Alma Nolt of Osage; seven children, Wesley (Suzanne
Stauffer) Nolt of Orchard, Lorann, Julia, Rose Elaine,
Darla, Alma Jean and Aaron Jay Nolt all at home; his mother
and step-father, Lydia Ann Nolt Martin and Joseph Martin;
seven brothers, Ivan (Ella Mae Burkholder) Nolt of New
Holland, Pennsylvania, Reuben (Edna Zimmerman) Nolt of
Floyd, Wayne (Elva Brubacker) Nolt of Charles City, Melvin
(Eva Sauder) Nolt of Leola, Pennsylvania, Lloyd (Anna Leid)
Nolt of Osage, Peter (Rosanne Martin) Nolt of Osage and
Lawrence (Thelma Nolt) Nolt of Charles City; and four
sisters, Elsie Nolt of New Holland, Pennsylvania, Lizzie
(Ivan) Burkholder of Ephrata, Pennsylvania, Miriam (Noah)
Burkholder of Rushville, New York and Ruth (Jonas)
Burkholder of Stanley, New York; and 12 step-brothers and
sisters.

Geraldine M. Foster
June 12, 2007
Geraldine M. Foster, age
83, of Riceville, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2007, at
the Riceville Community Rest home.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 14, at 2:00
p.m., at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Riceville.
Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Riceville.
Friends may call on Wednesday, from 4-7:00 p.m., at the
Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville and one hour before
services at the church on Thursday.
Geraldine was born on
February 28, 1924, the daughter of Thomas and Anna Kapka
House, in Riceville. She attended local schools and
graduated from the Riceville High School. "Jerry" and her
sister, Nadine, were very fond of their step-father, Frank
Reckner.
"Jerry" married Loyd Foster on April 18, 1944 in Riceville.
To this union four sons were born, Dean, Donald, Lee and
Gary. She was a homemaker.
"Jerry" enjoyed cooking shows on television, she loved
trying new recipes! She had the best homemade dinner roll
recipe around. She enjoyed sewing. Best wife, mother,
mother-in-law, and Grandma in the world. She enjoyed her
Sunday out for lunches and Sunday drives with Loyd.
"Jerry" is survived by her
husband, Loyd of Riceville; four sons, Dean and his wife,
Norma Foster of Riceville, Don and his wife, Debra Foster of
Greene, Lee and his wife, Jean Foster of Riceville and Gary
and his wife, Janice Foster of Riceville; 15 grandchildren;
many great-grandchildren; and one sister, Nadine (Harlan)
Noble of Riceville.
She was preceded in death
by her parents; her step-father, Frank Reckner; one
grandson; and one daughter-in-law.
Funeral arrangements were
made by the Lindstrom Funeral Home, Riceville.

Charlotte Harnack
June 19, 2007
Charlotte J. Mathison
Harnack, age 60, of Riceville, passed away on Monday, June
11, 2007, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center,
Osage, Iowa.
Funeral services were held on Friday, June 15, at 10:30
a.m., at the Leroy Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Char was born in Cresco,
on July 9, 1946, to Milton and Ruby (Dotzenrod) Mathison.
Charlotte is survived by
her husband, Steven; two children, Tammy Harnack of
Rochester and Bart Harnack and special friend, Amy of Coon
Rapids, Minnesota; two brothers, Milo (Trudy) and Dwight
(Teresa); several nieces; nephews; cousins; and their
families.

Mildred Clara
Louise Kramme
June 26, 2007
Mildred Clara Louise
Kramme, age 95, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at
the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, Iowa.
Funeral services were held on Monday, June 18, at the
Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley, Iowa. Burial was
in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Hartley.
Mildred Clara Louise (Uhe)
Kramme, the daughter of Samuel and Elsie (Towar) Uhe was
born on February 29, 1912 at Lena, Illinois. Her childhood
years were spent in the Lena area, where she attended Louisa
county school for eight years and then attended the Lena
High School. In 1929 she moved with her family to the
Hartley area where she began working at the Hartley Bakery
and various homes.
On January 4, 1932, she
was united in marriage to Erwin L. Kramme in Canton, South
Dakota. Following their marriage they moved to the Larrabee,
Iowa area, and later began farming near Hartley. Upon
retiring in 1971 the couple moved to the Kramme acreage on
the west side of Hartley. Mildred worked for the Variety
Store, True Value and Gene's Foodland. Following Erwin's
death in 1993, she moved into the town of Hartley and in
2003 became one of the first residents at the Assisted
Living Facility.
Mildred was a member of
the Trinity United Church of Christ where she was an active
member of the Dorcas Society, Busy Bee Club and a Mann Wing
Nursing Home volunteer. Special interests of Mildred's
included gardening, fishing, playing cards, baking,
decorating cakes and especially enjoyed spending time with
her grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory
are her children, Bette Pierson and her husband, Bill of
Estherville, Harold Kramme and his wife, Bev of Hartley and
Edward Kramme and his wife, Judy of Osage; 12 grandchildren;
27 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a
sister-in-law, Mary Uhe of Spencer; and many nieces,
nephews, cousins, other relatives as well as many friends.
She was preceded in death
by her parents; her husband; and triplet brothers, Floyd,
Loyd and Boyd Uhe.
Funeral arrangements were
made by the Hartley Funeral Home.

Katherine Bullis
June 19, 2007
Katherine Bullis, age 81,
of Osage, died on Friday, June 15, 2007, at the Heritage
Care Center in Mason City.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, June
19, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, with Rev.
George Hope officiating. Burial was in the First Lutheran
Cemetery in St. Ansgar, Iowa.
Katherine was born on
April 23, 1926 at Osage, the daughter of Gilman and Myrtle
(Hansen) Rust. She graduated from the St. Ansgar High School
in 1943. Katherine attended Iowa State Teachers College in
Cedar Falls and received her teaching certificate.
In September of 1947, she married Vallejo "Joe" Bullis at
the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They lived in Charles
City and St. Ansgar before moving to Osage in 1954.
She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage.
Katherine and Joe enjoyed traveling.
She was preceded in death
by her parents; a daughter, Nancy Bullis; and three
brothers, Gene, Charles and Allen Rust.
Katherine is survived by
her husband, Vallejo "Joe" Bullis of Osage; a son, Ronald
Bullis of Mason City; and a daughter, Susan Bullis of Mason
City.
Funeral arrangements were
made by the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage.

Leone M. Evans
June 26, 2007
Leone M. Evans, 84, of
Iowa City, died on Thursday, June 21, 2007, at the
University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, due to an extended
illness.
A gathering of friends and family was held on Sunday, June
24, from 2-4:00 p.m., at the Gay and Ciha Funeral and
Cremation Service in Iowa City. An additional gathering of
friends and family will be held on Thursday, June 28, from
2-4:00 p.m. in Osage, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Little Cedar Cemetery in Little Cedar,
Iowa.
Leone Evans, was born in
Little Cedar on November 10, 1922, the daughter of Eugene
and Blanche (Elliott) Barker. She married Clifford Lavern
Evans in 1941.
Leone worked many jobs throughout her life. She taught in
Keokuk, then in 1961 moved to Iowa City where she earned her
Masters Degree in both Business and Accounting. She worked
in Iowa City for 15 years at the University of Iowa Eye
Clinic and Business Office. Leone then moved to Chicago
where she worked as a tax auditor for 25 years. In the
1990's she retired and moved back to Iowa City where she was
an avid bowler and a member of the Accounting Society.
Leone was preceded in
death by her parents; and husband, Clifford who passed away
in 1946.
Leone's family includes
her three sons, Martin Lavern Evans of Rock Island,
Illinois, Ronald Alan Evans of Iowa City and Douglas Lee
Evans of Rochester, New York; three grandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were
made by the Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in
Iowa City.

Calvin Levorson
July 3, 2007
Calvin O. Levorson, age
79, died at home in Riceville, surrounded by his family on
Friday, June 22, 2007.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 26, at the St.
Paul's Maple Leaf Lutheran Church, Elma. Calvin was born in
Osage on June 3, 1928, to Inga Oline (Espelund) and Oscar
Berant Levorson. Calvin married Kathryn Taets on June 15,
1951.
He is survived by his
wife, Kathryn Levorson of Riceville; his daughter, Sandra
(Steve) Heer of Dubuque; his son, Keith (Linda) Levorson of
Riceville; four grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to
St. Paul's Maple Leaf Lutheran Church or Hospice of North
Iowa.

Leo Adam Bublitz
June 26, 2007
Leo Adam Bublitz, 27, of
rural Osage, died on Saturday June 23, 2007, in an
automobile accident near Waseca, Minnesota.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 26, at the
Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton.
Leo was born on August 24, 1979 in Austin, Minnesota, the
son of Dean and Marilyn (Anderson) Bublitz. Leo attended
school in Grafton and St. Ansgar. He graduated from the St.
Ansgar High School.
Leo Leaves to mourn his
mother, Marilyn Bublitz of rural Osage; three brothers; and
one sister.
Funeral arrangements were
made by the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage.

James "Jim" Regan
July 10, 2007
James E. Regan, 79, of
Avon, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2007, at
the University of Indiana Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana,
following a lengthy battle with cancer.
A Mass of Christian Burial
was held on Monday, July 2, at the Mary Queen of Peace
Catholic Church, Danville, Indiana, with Father Bernie Cox
officiating. Burial was in the Forest Lawn Memory Gardens,
Greenwood, Indiana. The American Legion Memorial Squad
conducted Military Rites at the gravesite. The Conkle
Funeral Home of Avon, Indiana, was in charge of the funeral
arrangements.
Jim was born in Riceville,
Iowa, to parents Francis and Martha Regan on November 13,
1927. He attended the Riceville Public Schools, graduating
with the class of 1945. Jim entered the United States Army
Air Force in 1945 and was discharged in 1947. Following his
military service he was employed by the Oliver factory in
Charles City.
Jim was united in marriage
to Marian Monaghan at Mason City in 1956. To this union were
born three children, Joseph, Michael and Deanna. The family
resided in Greenwood, Indiana, where Jim was employed by
Hill-Griffith until his retirement. Jim and Marian enjoyed
40 years together, raising their family and following the
activities in the lives of their grandchildren until
Marian's death in 1996.
On May 10, 1997, Jim was
united in marriage to LaVonne (Sweeney) Johnson at the
Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage. They made their home
in Avon, Indiana.
Jim and LaVonne shared a
love of family, neighbors and friends these past 10 years.
Jim's family and LaVonne's family became one family as Jim
counted LaVonne's children and grandchildren as his own, the
same was true of LaVonne in regard to Jim's family.
Jim's special joys were
his family and he and LaVonne traveled extensively to visit
children and grandchildren in different parts of the United
States. Jim was an eternal optimist and could make lemonade
out of the worst case scenario. During the last three years
of his battle with cancer he was always "upbeat" when
discussing the future.
Jim was a loving husband,
father and grandfather. He instilled in his children and
grandchildren the virtues of love, patience, humor and
optimism. The greatest tribute to their father was given by
his children at the funeral mass when they said, "Our
father's legacy to us was his example of how to live, love
and respect one another!"
Jim was a member of the
Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, the American Foundry
Society, and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death
by his parents; wife, Marian; and brother, Vernon (Bun)
Regan.
Survivors include his
wife, LaVonne; sons, Joseph (Vicki) Regan and Michael
(Diane) Regan; daughter, Deanna (Jack) Moore; step-sons,
Douglas (Elizabeth) Johnson, David (Sandra) Johnson and
Thomas (Nancee) Johnson; sisters, Dorothy (Chip) Lockie and
Judy (Jim) Shea; sister-in-law, Betty Regan; and 14
grandchildren.

Helen S. Halverson
July 3, 2007
Helen S. Halverson, age
99, of Osage, died on Friday, June 29, 2007, at the
Riceville Community Rest Home in Riceville.
Funeral services were held
at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, July 3, at Our Savior's Lutheran
Church in Osage, with Reverend Dennis Hanson and Reverend
Roy Ott officiating. Interment was in the Osage Cemetery.
Helen was born on January 28, 1908 to Gottlieb and Libby
(Fell) Mauser, near La Porte City. She moved with her
parents to a farm in Mitchell County at the age of four,
where she lived most of her adult life. She graduated from
the Osage High School and then worked at various office
jobs.
Helen was united in marriage to Ben Halverson on March 6,
1934 at her parent's home near New Haven. They farmed in the
Orchard area until 1942, when they purchased a farm near
McIntire, where they lived until their retirement to Osage
in 1972. Helen moved to Leroy, Minnesota in June of 2006.
She was preceded in death
by her parents; husband, Ben; a daughter-in-law, Linda
Halverson; four brothers; and two sisters.
Her survivors include
three daughters, Nancy (Terry) Fitzpatrick of Lynnville,
Bonnie (Max) Wagner of Eagan, Minnesota and Kathy (Jim)
Bartels of Stewartville, Minnesota; one son, Jim Halverson
of Montrose; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two
sisters-in-law, Connie Mauser of Osage and Jeanette
Halverson of Lodi, Wisconsin; and several nieces and
nephews.
The Champion-Bucheit
Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.
