** Alice Freda Richtsmeier
HAMPTON — Alice Freda Richtsmeier, 85, of Hampton, died Thursday (Feb. 25, 1999) at the Franklin General Hospital, Hampton.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the St. Peter's United Church of Christ, in rural Geneva, with the Rev. Vicki Engelmann officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter's United Church of Christ Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home, in Hampton.
** Richard A. Cahill
ROCKWELL — Richard A. Cahill, age 46, of 411 4th St. S., Rockwell, died Tuesday, February 23, 1999 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 27, 1999 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Officiating will be Rev. Stephen Meyer and Rev. Dennis Cahill. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., today at Sacred Heart Parish Center. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Richard A. Cahill Memorial Fund for his children.

Richard was born on March 30, 1952, one of four children to Joseph and Marian (O'Harrow) Cahill. He graduated from the Rockwell-Swaledale High School in 1972 and then continued his education at Hawkeye Technical School in the Auto body and detailing division.
Rich was united in marriage to Lorraine Weaver at the Little Brown Church in Nashua in 1988. To this union were born two children.
He worked as security personnel, driving a bank armored car in Denver Colorado and Mankato, Minnesota. For the last several years he has owned and operated his own independent trucking business from Rockwell.
Rich was a loving and attentive father to his children, a gentle soul and a good friend.
Richard is survived by his former wife Lorraine; his son, Ben and daughter, Jessica Cahill, all of Rockwell; his mother, Marian Cahill of Sunrise Healthcare, Mason City; three brothers, John and his wife, Joyce Cahill, Des Moines; Robert and his wife, Diane Cahill, Arlington Heights, IL; and Dennis Cahill of Mason City.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph; and his grandparents.

CLEAR LAKE — Soui A. Lai, 80, of 208 S. Eighth St., Clear Lake, died Tuesday (Feb. 23, 1999) at his home in Clear Lake.

MASON CITY — Irene C. Kellogg, 83, of 1417 Meadowbrook Dr., Mason City, died Tuesday (Feb. 23, 1999) at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center East.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. James Lutheran Church, 1148 Fourth St. S.E., with the Rev. David Anderson officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.

Irene was born May 22, 1915, in Mason City, the daughter of Gustov and Louise (Witte) Radunzel. She graduated from Mason City where she participated in municipal band.
Irene married Glenn C. Kellogg on Feb. 9, 1937, at Clear Lake. The Kellogg's farmed southwest of Mason City for many years moving into Mason City in 1975.
Irene was a life-long member of St. James Lutheran Church, ladies aid, Friendship Society and rural Lakettes.
She enjoyed flowers, crocheting and was a loving mother and grandmother.
Irene is survived by her son, Robert L. Kellogg and wife, Linda, of Brighton, Colo.; daughter, Carolyn I. Broers and husband, Roger, of Mason City; grandchildren, Douglas Kellogg and wife, Pamela, of Clear Lake, Iowa; Phillip Kellogg, of Denver, Colo.; Gregory Kellogg, of Breckenridge, Colo.; Bobbie Kellogg, of Commerce City, Colo.; Karla Geddes and husband, Ian, of Sheridan, Wyoming; and Deborah Broers and fiancee, Bob Bosch, of Mason City; and two great-grandchildren, Levi and Logan Kellogg.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, south of Charles City, with a flag presentation by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

** Jennie Long
AUSTIN, Minn. — Jennie Long, 91, of 1200 Southwest Twelfth Street, died Friday evening, February 26, at Sacred Heart Care Center in Austin, where she was a resident.
The second in a family of six brothers and one sister, Jennie was born April 10, 1907, to John C. and Altena (Sporaa) Johnson, on a farm near Latimer, Iowa. She attended country school and later worked at home until she married Don E. Long, in Northwood, Iowa.
During World War II, Don went into service, and Jennie went with him to the various duty stations.
After the war, when Jennie's sister moved to Austin, Jennie and Don followed. Don worked as a painter and for four years at Johnson Floral as a grower. Jennie worked at Ankeny Dry Cleaners.
She enjoyed gardening, canning and crocheting.
Survivors include a brother, Dallas Johnson and his wife, Merle, of Mason City, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Betty Johnson, of Garner, Iowa; Grace Johnson, of Meservey, Iowa; Leona Johnson, of Hampton, Iowa; Jacqueline Johnson, of Hampton, Iowa; and Lila Ruth Johnson, of Mason City, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Long; her parents; five brothers, Lavern Johnson, Keely Johnson, John Johnson Jr., Melvin Johnson, Duaine Johnson; and one sister, Altena Schmeling.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Chapel, with the Rev. R. Allan Flint officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery, Austin.
Friends may call from 12:30 to 1 p.m. on the day of services at the Sacred Heart Chapel.

LINCOLN, Neb. — Iva J. Heaney, 89, of Lincoln, Neb., formerly of Burt, died Wednesday (Feb. 24, 1999) at Lincoln, Neb.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Titonka. Burial will be in the Portland Township Cemetery, rural Titonka.

ROCKFORD — Carrie Ann Buseman, 86, formerly of Rockford West Manor, Rockford, died Thursday, February 25, 1999, at the Rockwell Community Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 1, 1999, at the Hanford Community Church, 12411 Spruce Ave., Mason City, with the Pastor Mark Culham officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. Sunday, February 28, 1999 at the Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., Mason City, and continue one hour before services at the church.

Carrie was born April 21, 1912, the daughter of Ben and Abbie Annie (Hillers) Lamfers in Kanawha, Iowa.
On February 27, 1935, Carrie was united in marriage to Everett Buseman at the Kanawha Reformed Church. In 1945 the couple moved to the Rockford area where they continued to farm.
Carrie was a very dedicated person to both her family and her church. She valued every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Carrie was involved with as many different groups as she could be at church. She was an excellent cook who enjoyed baking bread, Chocolate Chip cookies and making apple butter. Carrie was a member of the Owen Center Sewing Circle and enjoyed doing embroidery work at home. Carrie was always willing to sit down and have a cup of tea and visit. Carrie was a member of the Hanford Community Church.
Those thankful for having shared in Carrie's life include two daughters, Edna and her husband, Earl Zieman, of Rockwell, and Carrie Trulson, of Kanawha; two sons, Donald and his wife, Jean Buseman, of Rockford, and Ronald Buseman, of Mason City; three sisters, Frieda Mehus, of Austin, Minn., Gertie Paulson, of Garner, and Alice Lamfers, of Clarion; seven grandchildren, Marvin Zieman, Daniel Zieman, Jon Buseman, Sandra Hanson, Sara Buseman, Kimberly Trulson, and Curtis Trulson; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Buseman was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everett in 1986; two sons, John and Robert; four sisters and one sister in infancy; five brothers; one daughter-in-law, Vivienne; and one son-in-law, Roland Wike.

** Clara A. Jackson
YAKIMA, Wash. — Clara A. Jackson, 91, of Yakima, Wash, formerly of the Kanawha area, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 1999, at Central Health Care Center in Yakima, Wash.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 25, 1999 at Keith & Keith, 9th Avenue Chapel in Yakima, Wash.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at Ewing Dugger Funeral Home, in Kanawha with the Rev. Susan Detwiler officiating. Interment will be in Amsterdam Township Cemetery, Kanawha.
Visitation will be two hours prior to services today at the Ewing Dugger Funeral Home.
Clara was born on July 2, 1907, in Clarion, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Bessie (Carr) Berhow. Clara married James Alvin Jackson.
In 1945, the family moved to the Yakima area. Clara was a homemaker. She loved and enjoyed being with her family, reading, crocheting, cooking, canning and gardening. She had a sense of humor.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Leonard Jackson, of Lacy, Wash., Helen and Jack Acord, of Selah, Wash., Arnold and Jean Jackson, of Yakima, Wash., Celia Cantrell, of Turlock, Calif., Jay and Karen Jackson, of Yakima, Wash., and Sharon and Jerry Landon, of Kennewick, Wash.; 24 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Edith Terhark, of Clarion, Iowa, Edna Riekens, of Forest City, Iowa; Ruth Lotspeitch, of Albuquerque, N.M., and Ruby Zeigler, of Kanawha, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Jackson in October of 1968; sons, Albert and Larry Jackson and daughters, Velda Bishop and Janice Smeltzer; brothers, Galen and James Berhow; and sisters, Verla Nelson and Esther Egemo.

** Helen A. Kleinsasser
MASON CITY — Helen A. Kleinsasser, 87, of 1000 N. Eisenhower Ave., died Thursday (Feb. 25, 1999) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron Stein officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Major-Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church.
Helen was born Jan. 20, 1912, in Minneola, Kan., the daughter of John and Katherine (Kornelson) Wien. When she was a child, the family moved to Dinuba, Calif., where Helen graduated from high school. She attended and graduated from Reedly Junior College in Reedly, Calif., attended Fresno State for a year, then graduated from the Bible Institute of Los Angeles, Calif.
Helen was a candidate to do missionary work in Africa, but when World War II broke out she was unable to go. She then became active in Christian Girls work in Salem, Ore.
Helen married Albert J. Kleinsasser April 11, 1942, at Dinuba, Calif. The Kleinsassers began their ministry in Alsen, N.D. in 1942, and through the years would serve churches in North Dakota, South Dakota, California, Colorado and Nebraska. After retiring in 1976, they moved to Bella Vista, Ark., where they established the Judson American Baptist Church. They moved to Mason City in 1993. Helen enjoyed singing, and while living in Arkansas was a member of the Northwest Arkansas Chorale. She was a member of First Baptist Church, deaconess at the church, enjoyed traveling the United States and abroad and loved nature, flowers and entertaining. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and their many activities. Peace to her memory.
Helen is survived by her husband, the Rev. Albert J. Kleinsasser of Mason City; two sons, Keith Kleinsasser and his wife, Gretchen, of Cottage Grove, Minn., and the Rev. Albert J. Kleinsasser Jr. of Swea City; a daughter, Bonnie Peterson and her husband, Douglas, of Mason City; grandchildren, Zack, Heidi, Joel and Allison Kleinsasser and Michael, Dustin and Noelle Peterson; sisters, Mary Fruit and her husband, Morris, of Porterville, Calif., and Lydia Kleinsasser and her husband, Rev. Zack, of Canon City, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and sisters and a son, John Mark, in 1957.

Margaret E. Kennison was born Dec. 1, 1911, in Mason City, the daughter of Charles and Susan (Gullickson) Vigdahl. Margaret attended and graduated from Mason City High School in 1930. She married Claude C. Kennison on Sept. 14, 1931, in Mason City. Together they attended St. Paul Bible College in St. Paul, Minn., for one year. They moved back to Mason City and lived here until 1948, when they moved to Orchard, Iowa, where they farmed. In 1961, they moved back to Mason City and she worked for the Park Hospital for several years in the dietary department. She retired in the mid-1970s. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church and the Christian Women's Association.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathryn Barker and her husband, Bob, of St. Louis, Mo.; four sons, Philip Kennison and his wife, Mary Jean, of San Angelo, Texas, Thomas Kennison and his wife, Barbara, of Orchard, Gordon Kennison of Mason City and David Kennison of Boulder, Colo.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Doris Lamb, of Juno, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Claude, in 1987; two brothers, David Vigdahl and Ansil Vigdahl; and one sister, Elsie Higgins.

ALGONA — Matthew J. Platt, 77, died Saturday (Feb. 27, 1999) at the West Bend Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Cecelia Catholic Church with the Rev. Steve Brodersen officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery.

MANLY — A. Lucille (Ames) Carter, 86, of 224 E. Harris, died Saturday (Feb. 27, 1999) at the Manly Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 E. Spring St., with the Rev. Bob Cumings of Bethel United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Manly Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Bride Colonial Chapel, and will continue on Tuesday for one hour prior to the services.
Anna Lucille (Ames) Carter was born Sept. 19, 1912, in Dutch Creek Township in Washington County, Iowa, the daughter of James and Lillie (Robertson) McNeese.
She was united in marriage to Roland Carter in February, 1929, and they later divorced. She married Lloyd Ames on March 13, 1953. After his death, she remarried Roland Carter in May 1987.
Survivors include three children, Marilyn Dorsey, Kensett, Roger Carter and his wife, Lynda, Joice, and Barbara Havill and her special friend, Mike Collins, Thornton; eight stepchildren, Charlotte Harlan, Clear Lake, Robert Ames, Rockwell, Gladys Siems, Charles City, Francis Ames, Klemme, Dale Ames, Minneapolis, Roger Ames, Mason City, William Ames, Rockwell, and Jerry Ames, Ankeny; grandchildren, Melly Dorsey, Kensett, Joe Dorsey, Mason City, Leo Dorsey, Northwood, Shawn Dorsey, Shreveport, La., James "Jimmy" Carter and Kevin Carter, both of Los Angeles, Lori Overbeck, Northwood, Rob Trumble, Sioux City, Katrina Larsen, Jewell, Sheryl Oberg, Auburn, Calif., Jeffrey Carter, Scarville, Kimberly Dahlhauser, Fertile, Kelly Carter, Joice, and Travis Ames, Klemme; 22 great-grandchildren; many stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; and one brother, Royal McNeese, Britt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; two sons, Duane Dean Carter and James "Buck" Carter; one brother; and three sisters.

MASON CITY — Wilma Maxine (Snell) Loucks, 86, of 302 Second St. N.E., died Friday (Feb. 26, 1999) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Hanford Community Church, 12411 Spruce Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. Mark Culham officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery, Plymouth.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E.

ALGONA — Dick Norton, 82, died Friday (Feb. 26, 1999) at the Kossuth Regional Health Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Congregational United Church of Christ with the Rev. Dennis Secrease officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home.
