Mary Brattlund
BANCROFT —
Mrs. Mary Brattlund. 87,
of Bancroft, died Wednesday (May 15. 1985) at an
Armstrong nursing home.
Funeral services will be
1:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church,
Bancroft, with the Rev. Donald Muellcr officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Bancroft.
Visitation will be after
4 p.m. Friday at Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral
Home, Bancroft, and at the church after 11 a.m.
Saturday.
Survivors include two
daughters, Mrs. Arvid (Agues) Christ, Scarville, and
Mrs. Marvin (Loretta) Luedtke, Fenton; six grandchildren
and eight great-grandchildren; one sister. Mrs. Serf
(Rose) Bruchhausen, Bancroft; and one brother, John
Vokoun, Forest City.
Austin
Thompson
SCARVILLE
— Austin Thompson, 84,a retired Scarville farmer, died
Tuesday (May 14, 1985) at a Rochester, Minn., hospital.
Funeral services will
be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Salem Lutheran Church in
Scarville, with the Rev. Dennis Hanson, pastor,
officiating. Burial will be in Salem Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation is today
until time of service Friday at Mittelstadt
Funeral Home, Lake Mills
He was born Sept. 24,
1900 in Winnebago County, the son of Gilbert and Karina
Thompson. On June 1. 1932, he married Alma Haugen.
He is survived by his
wife, Alma of Scarville; one son, Richard of Scarville;
one sister, Mrs. Horace (Gladys) Thorvilson, Lake Mills;
and one brother, Melvin, Albert Lea, Minn.
Inez Phinney
CLEAR LAKE —
Former
Clear Lake resident, Mrs. Frank (Inez) Phinney, 84, of
Mesa, Ariz., died Tuesday (May 14, 1985) at a Mason City
hospital.
Memorial
services will be held 7 p.m. Friday at the Grace United
Methodist Church, 200 14th NW, Mason City, with the Rev.
Harlan Stenberg, former pastor of the Grace United
Methodist Church, officiating. The body will be
cremated.
She was
born Jan. 11, 1901 at Sloan, the daughter of Elmer and
Clara (Nelson) Miller. She attended and graduated from
Sloan High School and later attended teachers college in
Colorado. She taught in Alden for a short time. On May
22, 1926, she was married to Frank Phinney at
Sutherland.
Memorials
may be given to the Grace United Methodist Church. Major
Erickson Funeral Home, Mason City, is in charge of
arrangements.
Survivors
include her husband Frank E., of Mesa, Ariz., currently
of Mason City; one son, George E. of Mason City; one
sister, Mrs. William (Fern) Jepson, Sioux City; one
brother, Leonard Miller, Sacramento, Calif.; three
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Forrest Lundstrom
ARCADIA, Calif. --
Word has been
received of the death of Forrest M. Lundstrom, 76, of
Arcadia, Calif., Saturday (May 11,1985) at his home.
He lived at 217 Ilene
Drive in Arcadia.
Mr. Lundstrom was the
husband of the former Margaret Wurtzer, formerly of
Clear Lake.
Congregational Church
services followed by Masonic services were held May 16
at the chapel of the Turner and Stevens Mortuary,
Alhambra, Calif. The body was cremated.
Mr. Lundstrom, a graduate
of Columbia University, was a developer and Realtor in
the Los Angeles area. He was a Shriner, 31- degree
Mason, a member of Congregational Church and Phi Kappa
Psi fraternity.
The family requests
memorials be given to the Shriners Hospitals for
Crippled Children, Los Angeles Unit.
Survivors include his
wife, Margaret; three children, Martin W., Corvallis,
Ore.; Boyce H., Portland, Ore., and Jill Marie Lundstrom
of Davis, Calif.; six grand-children; and a
sister-in-law, Mrs. Helen W Decker, Clear Lake.

Randi Hvattum
OSAGE —
Randi
Hvattum, 97, of Osage, died Wednesday (May 15,1985) at
the Osage hospital.
Services will be 2 p.m.
Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Osage, with the
Rev. Kit Belk officiating. Burial will be in Rock Creek
Lutheran Cemetery, southwest of Osage.
Visitation
is after 3 p.m. today at the Champion Funeral Home here.
Born April
16,1888, in Norway, she was the daughter of Halvor
Schjervum and Bertha Lee. She came to this country in
1904 to live with an uncle. She married Thorston
Hvattum on Jan. 9,1908. He died Oct. 16, 1934 She and
her husband farmed west of Osage.
She is
survived by one daughter, Mrs. Elmer (Helga) MaGee-of
Mexico, Mo.; one son. Henry of Mason City; six
grandchildren. 16 great-grandchildren; and two
great-great-grandchildren.

Wilmer
Mueller, 88, of St. Ansgar, died Thursday (May 16, 1985)
in St Ansgar.

Raymond J.
Shimak, 50, 315 N. Monroe, died Thursday afternoon (May
16, 1985) at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City.

Birdie C. Huebner
PLYMOUTH —
Mrs.
Birdie C. Huebner, 89, former Plymouth area resident,
died Saturday (May 18, 1985) at the Faith Home in Osage.
Funeral
services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Emmanuel
Lutheran Church, Grafton, with the Rev. James Fladland
officiating. Burial will be in the Grafton cemetery.
Mrs.
Huebner was born Jan. 2, 1896 in West Cedar Township,
Mitchell County to G. J. and Anna (Dirdal) Paulson. She
married Herbert Huebner on Nov. 22, 1916 at Osage. They
farmed near Plymouth and she lived there until moving to
the Faith Home.
Mrs. Huebner was a member
of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Grafton, since 1916
Visitation
will be after 3 p.m. Monday at the Champion Funeral
Home, Osage.
Survivors included two
daughters. Mrs. Everett (Shirley) Vikturek, Mason City,
and Mrs. Irving (Harlys) Field, Nora Springs; one son,
Glen of Plymouth; four grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren.
Ethel
H. Sullivan
MASON CITY — Mrs.
Lawrence W. (Ethel H.) Sullivan, 77, of 427 2nd NE, died
Friday afternoon (May 17, 1985) at her home.
Funeral services will be
at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Patterson James Funeral
Chapel, 123 2nd SE. The Rev. David Anderson, pastor of
St. James Lutheran Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Elmwood
Cemetery. Visitation is after 1 p.m. today at the
funeral home.
Mrs. Sullivan was born
Sept. 30, 1907, in Mason City, the daughter of George
and Ida (Zerble) Florence. On May 12, 1950, she married
Lawrence W. Sullivan in Charles City.
Mrs. Sullivan lived in
Mason City for the past nine years having moved here
from Chicago in 1976.
Survivors include her
husband Lawrence W., Mason City; one sister, Mrs.
William (Ida) Moriarity, Berwyn, Ill.; two brothers, Ray
Florence, Mason City, and Vernon Florence, Park Rapids,
Minn.; one niece, Mrs. Don (Geri) Barker, Mason City,
and two nephews, Tim and Mike Moriarity. Chicago.
Emily Lunn
CHARLES CITY —
Mrs. Emily
Lunn. 77. 204 15th Ave, Charles City, died Thursday (May
16, 1985) at Greeley, Colo.
Funeral
services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Wesleyan
Church, 913 S. Main, with the Rev. Ronald Becker
officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens.
Emily
Katheryn Wilson Lunn was born Sept. 10, 1907 at Boone to
Clarence and Barbara (McNeir) Wilson. She married Edwin
Lunn at Winner, S.D. on May 17, 1928.
Mrs. Lunn
was a member of the Senior Citizens of Charles City.
Visitation
will be after 7:30 tonight, all day Monday, until 11
a.m. Tuesday at the Hauser Funeral Home here; also after
noon Tuesday at the church.
Survivors
include two sons, Ronald of Greeley, and Larry, Charles
City; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Jean Kennison, San Angelo,
Texas; one daughter-in-law. Jean Lunn, Arvada, Colo.;
four sisters, Mrs. Thelma Iverson, Murdo, S.D., Mrs.
Laurene Dickoff, Oskaloosa; Mrs. Wanda Schmidtke,
Osceola, Mich.; Mrs. Barbara Mannetter, Charges City;
two brothers, Emmet Wilson, Loyalton, Calif., and
William Wilson, Floyd; 10 grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren.

Charles William
Packard
NORTHWOOD —
Charles
William Packard, 75, of Northwood, died Saturday (May
18, 1985) at a Mason City hospital.
Funeral
services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the United
Methodist Church here, with the
Rev.
Richard Horton officiating. Burial will be at the Sunset
Rest Cemetery.
Charles Packard was born
Nov. 8, 1909, at Summit, S.D. to John and Nellie (McWaters)
Packard. He attended grade school in Summit and later
moved to Milaca, Minn., with his parents. He graduated
from Milaca High School.
On Dec. 2,
1929, he was married to Beulah Pattereon in the
Methodist parsonage at Northwood. After his marriage,
they moved to North Dakota where he was in construction
work. In 1936, they moved to the Northwood area where he
farmed and also did construction work. In 1970 they
moved into Northwood and for a short time he worked for
the Worth County Co-Op Oil Co., Northwood. Mr. and Mrs.
Packard celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in
1984.
He
belonged to the Senior citizens, Northwood, the United
Methodist Church and was active on many committees in
the Methodist Church where he served as Treasurer.
Visitation
will be after 3 p.m. today at the Conner Colonial
Chapel, Northwood.
Survivors
include his wife. Beulah. He was preceded in death by
his son, Charles.
Joseph
Halfman
MANLY — Joseph Halfman,
93, of Manly, died Sunday (May 19, 1985) at a Mason City
hospital.
Services are incomplete
at the Hogan-Bremer Bride Colonial Chapel, Manly.
Genevieve J. Smith
CHARLES CITY —
Mrs.
Genevieve J. Smith. 55, 804 Clinton Street, died Friday
(May 17, 1985) at home. Death was attributable to
cancer.
Funeral
services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St John
Lutheran Church, 200 S. Main, with the Rev. Dennis
Niezwaag, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be
at the Sunnyside Memory Gardens.
Genevieve
Smith was born in Freeport, Ill., on Jan. 26, 1930, the
daughter of Orla and Maggie (Pentecoff) Crandall. She
received her education in Charles City schools.
On July 10, 1948, she was married to Paul A. Smith at
St. John Lutheran Church, Charles City.
She was a
member of St. John Lutheran Church and Beta Sigma Phi
Chapter Beta Upsilon Sorority. She worked as a waitress
at the former Red Owl cafeteria and Ray's Pastime.
Visitation
will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and until 9 a.m.
Tuesday at the Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt Street, and
at the church prior to services.
Survivors
include her husband, Paul; two daughters, Sandra K.
Smith of Charles City and Mrs. Rick (Cynthia) Frascht of
rural Charles City; her mother, Mrs. Maggie Crandall of
Charles City; five sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Arndt of Van
Nuys. Calif., Mrs. Valda Dilley of Bloomington, Ill.,
Mrs. Phyllis Farmer of Farmington Hills, Mich., Mrs.
Patricia Ritter and Mrs. Nancy Koenigsfeld, both of
Charles City; two brothers, Russell Crandall of Des
Moines and Jim Crandall of Charles City and 3
grandchildren.
Arthur Sanden
JOICE —
Arthur
Clarence Sanden, 86, long-time Joice area farmer, died
Saturday (May 18, 1985) at the Lutheran Retirement Home,
Northwood.
Funeral
services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 21 at the
Bethany Lutheran Church, Joice, officiated by the Rev.
John Albrecht. Burial will be at the Bristol Cemetery,
rural Joice.
Visitation
will begin today until time of service, at the
Mittelatadt Funeral Home, Lake Mills.
Mr. Sanden
was born June 11, 1898, at Kensett, the son of Ole and
Anna (Torgerson) Sanden. He was married to Cora
Grundhovd Feb. 22, 1922, at Scarville. She preceded Mr.
Sanden in death on May 25. 1968.
Mr. Sanden
is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Carlyle (Arlene)
Cunningham and Mrs. Bert (Adeline) Jones, both of
Des
Moines; one son, Sterling of Lake Mills; three sisters,
Evelyn Slattum of Manly, Mrs. John (Olga) Field of Joice,
and Mrs. Vernon (Claire) Bowen of Sebring, Fla.; seven
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
