Norman Dilley

Norman
L. Dilley, 62, of Eldora, died on Monday, February 25, 2002,
at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls of cardiac
arrest.
Services were held on
Thursday, February 28, at the Creps-Abels Funeral Home in
Eldora, with burial in the New Providence Cemetery. Rev.
Bruce Baillie of the First Presbyterian Church in Steamboat
Rock officiated.
Norman was born on March
9, 1939 in West Virginia, to Luther and Ruby Mitchell
Dilley. He served in the United States Army in the late
1950s. On May 7, 1960, he married Gladys Dilley in Virginia.
They moved to Eldora in 1971 and he worked for 31 years as a
journeyman linesman for the Iowa Brotherhood of Electrical
Workers Local Union No. 55, retiring in 1997. His hobbies
were hunting and fishing.
He is survived by a son,
Robert Dilley and his wife, Joyce of Eldora; a daughter,
Wendy Lawrence and husband, Jeff of West Des Moines; a
brother, Darrel Dilley and wife, Polly of Vinegrove,
Kentucky; two half-brothers, Albert Smith and wife, Jean of
Denver, Colorado and James Smith and wife, Diane of
Marlinton, West Virginia; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death
by his parents; his wife, Gladys on May 17, 2001; and an
infant sister, JoAnn.
