Private funeral services were held in Springfield, at the National Cemetery on Saturday, January 10, for the immediate family. The Gorman-Scharph Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 14, from 5-8:00 p.m., at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Dumont. There are no services. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel.

Hjalmar Peter "H.P." Krogh, 83, of Iowa Falls, died on Monday, January 12, 2009, at the Heritage Care Center in Iowa Falls.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 17, at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery, Iowa Falls, at a later date. The Surls Funeral Home, Iowa Falls, was in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation was held on Monday, Januay 19, from 4-7:00 p.m., at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Dumont. Funeral services were on Tuesday, January 20, at 10:30 a.m., at the Aplington Baptist Church. Burial was in the Dumont Cemetery.

LaVerne Donald Swieter, 73, of Geneva, died on Friday, January 16, 2009, at the Mercy Medical Center—North Iowa in Mason City.

Visitation was held on Monday, January 19, from 4-6:00 p.m., at the Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton, with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. Funeral services were on Tuesday, January 20, at 2:00 p.m., at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton. Burial was in the St. Peter's UCC Cemetery, Geneva.

Visitation was held on Monday, January 19, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral home in Dumont. Private family services followed at 1:30 p.m. Burial was in the Harlan Cemetery, rural Dumont. Memorials may be directed to the Iowa Hospice.

Carol J. Summerhays, 73, of Waterloo, died on Saturday, January 31, 2009, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, February 3, from 4-8:00 p.m., at the Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Home on West Ridgeway in Waterloo. There will be a rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a 7:00 p.m. vigil. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 4, at 10:30 a.m., at the St. Edward Catholic Church, with inurnment at a later date in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

She is survived locally by her sister, Neva (Arnold) Benton and a brother, Ivan (Janise) Davis.
