Beverly A. Hemmer, 66, of Greene, died on Friday, August 1, 2008, at the Floyd County Hospital in Charles City.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, August 5, from 4-8:00 p.m., at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 6, at 10:30 a.m., at the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in rural Greene. The Rev. Mark Walker will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date.

Jim Riker, 70, of New Haven, died on Saturday, August 2, 2008, at the Knoxville Veterans Medical Center.

Graveside inurnment services will be held on Thursday, August 7, at 2:00 p.m., at the Osage Cemetery, with Pastor Gary Gilber officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Osage VFW Post 7920 and the Osage American Legion Post 278.
The Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage, is in charge of the arrangements.

Ashlyn Echo Whipple, 2, of Pleasant Hill, died on Saturday, August 2, 2008, at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, from cancer.

Visitation was held from 5-7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, August 5, at the Altoona United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 6, at 10:30 a.m., at the Altoona United Methodist Church. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m., on Wednesday, at the North Lawn Memorial Gardens near Iowa Falls. The Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Wilbur John Dirksen, 87, of Hampton, died on Thursday, August 7, 2008, at the Franklin General Hospital in Hampton.

Funeral services were held on Monday, August 11, at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton. Burial was in the Zion Reformed Church Cemetery, rural Sheffield.

Edna R. Arends Muhlenhaupt, 96, of Hampton, died on Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at the Franklin General Hospital Nursing Facility.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 15, from 4-7:00 p.m., at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 16, at 10:30 a.m., at the First Baptist Church in Waverly. Burial will be in the Hampton Cemetery.

W. Roger Palmer, 71, of Hampton, died on Thursday, August 14, 2008, at the Franklin General Hospital in Hampton.

A celebration of Roger's life will be held on Saturday, August 23, at 2:00 p.m., at the First Christian Church in Hampton. Inurnment in the Hampton Cemetery will take place at a later date. The Cremation Society of Eastern-Central-Western Iowa is in charge of the arrangements.
