Vera Ruth Weiss, 1919-2010

Vera
Ruth Weiss, of Mason City, died on Thursday, September 2,
2010, at the IOOF Home, Mason City. She was 91 years old.
A private family graveside service will be held at the
Concord Cemetery, Garner, with the Reverend Mark Lavrenz of
the Bethlehem Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in
the Concord Cemetery, Garner. The Hogan Bremer Moore
Colonial Chapel, Mason City, is responsible for the
arrangements.
Memorials may be directed to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church,
Mason City or to the Hospice of North Iowa.
Vera Ruth Woiwod, was born on June 24, 1919 in Garner, the
daughter of Carl H. and Matilda C. (Wrede) Woiwod. She
attended Garner Schools. Vera was united in marriage to Fred
Weiss on January 14, 1945 and to this union three children
were born. She and Fred farmed in the Garner area until they
retired. In 2003, they moved to Mason City.
Vera was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mason
City and a past member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church,
Garner.
Vera is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Art) Hitz of Polk
City and Linda (John) Hamilton of Hampton; two grandsons,
Jeff (Jennifer) Hamilton of Johnston and Bryan Hitz of
Morristown, Tennessee; one brother, Orville Woiwod of Dewey,
Arizona; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred;
infant daughter, Carol Ann; two infant grandsons; her
sister, Esther Pannkuk; and brother, Marvin Woiwod.

Theresa Lingle,
1912-2010
September 15, 2010
Theresa
Lingle, age 98, of Algona and formerly of Garner, died on
Friday, September 3, 2010, at the Algona Good Samaritan Care
Center.
Funeral services were held
at the St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona, with Father Ed
Girres officiating. Burial was in the St. Michael’s
Catholic Cemetery in Whittemore. The Lentz Funeral Home in
Algona is serving the family.
Theresa Marion Besch, the daughter of John and Anna
(Schumacher) Besch, was born on May 3, 1912 in Whittemore,
Iowa. On September 19, 1940, Theresa was united in marriage
with Clarence “Chuck” Lingle in Forest City, Iowa. They
owned a tire business in Des Moines.
Theresa enjoyed traveling,
playing cards, gambling and taking trips to different
Casino’s.
Left to cherish Theresa’s memory are nieces and nephews,
Vicki Mallory and her husband, Steve of Algona, Craig
Thilges and his wife, Bev of Arnolds Park, Lyle Jensen and
his wife, Phyllis of Garner, Ruth Berte and her husband, Bob
of Bode, Karen Schissel of Algona and LaRee VanHauen and her
husband, Wade of Reinbeck; and many great-nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in death
by her parents; husband, Chuck; four brothers; three
sisters; brother-in-laws; sister-in-laws; one nephew; and
one niece.

Raymond J. Glaudel,
1940-2010
September 15, 2010
Raymond
J. Glaudel, 70, of Vinton, died on Saturday, September 4,
2010, at the Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton, following a
brief battle with cancer.
Funeral services were held
on Wednesday, September 8, at the Van Steenhuyse-Russell
Funeral Home in Vinton, with Chaplain Marvin Hostetler
officiating. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery,
Vinton, with military rites performed by the Geo. G. Luckey
American Legion Post 57 of Vinton and by Iowa Military
Funeral Honors of Iowa City.
Raymond was born on August
4, 1940, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Mary Elizabeth
Algood Neumann and step-son of Keith Neumann. He was raised
in Davenport and attended school there. He proudly served
his country in the United States Army for four years. On
June 23, 1973, Raymond was united in marriage with Judith E.
Stickney in Ft. Pierce, Florida. Raymond worked as a
pipefitter and welder for Modern Piping, Inc. in Cedar
Rapids. He belonged to the Union Pipefitters Local 125. He
retired October 1, 2005, after 45 years of service.
Raymond enjoyed mud runs
and scuba diving. He was an avid NASCAR and Hawkeyes fan. He
received his private pilot’s license and also enjoyed
flying. His greatest joy was spending time with family.
Raymond is survived by his
wife, Judy of Vinton; his mother, Mary Elizabeth Neumann of
Davenport; two sons, Ray (Beth) Roberts of Albert Lea,
Minnesota and Ed (Lynn) Roberts of Enterprise, Alabama; two
daughters, Deb (Jim) Neagle of Garner and Angela (Eric)
Smith of Savannah, Georgia; eight grandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death
by his father.
In lieu of flowers, a
memorial fund has been established and will benefit Vinton
8th grader Caleb Stewart in his battle with leukemia.

Hilario
A. Ochoa, 1929-2010
September 29, 2010
Hilario
A. Ochoa, 81, of Garner, died on Thursday, September 23,
2010, at the Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City.
Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, at
the Concord Township Cemetery in Garner, with Fr. Dennis
Miller officiating. The Cataldo Funeral Home was in charge
of the arrangements.
Hilario A. Ochoa, the son of Nieves and Petra (Aguilar)
Ochoa, was born on January 2, 1929 at Crystal City, Texas.
He married Salome Calderon in Texas. In 1945, they moved to
Garner where they raised their sons. Hilario worked at
various jobs in the local area, retiring in 1990 from the
Clear Lake Bakery. He enjoyed his family and gardening.
Hilario is survived by his wife, Salome of Garner; six sons,
Larry, Jr. (Margeret) Ochoa of Delray Beach, Florida,
Everardo (Anna) Ochoa of Garner, Mario (Jean) Ochoa of Mason
City, Carlos (Sally) Ochoa of Corona, California, Richard
(Echo) Ochoa of Mason City and Jose "Louie" (Donna) Ochoa of
Garner; nineteen grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren;
and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sons,
Nieves and Leo Ochoa.
