FOREST CITY-Opal M. Dunbar, 94, of Forest City,
died on Friday, February 1, 2002, at the Muse Norris Hospice
in Mason City.
A Funeral Mass
was held on Monday, February 4, at the St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Craig Steimel
officiated.
Survivors include her four sons, Jerry Dunbar and wife,
Margaret of Mason City, Mike Dunbar and wife, Peggy of Waverly, Bill
Dunbar and wife, Jane of Beulah, Wyoming and Francis "Skip" Dunbar of
Runnels; daughter-in-law, Dee Dunbar of Manly; 13 grandchildren; and
20 great-grandchildren.

Buffalo Center,
died on Sunday, February 3, 2002, at the Muse Norris Hospice
Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, February 7, at
the First
Reformed Church in Buffalo Center.
The Rev. Bill Peake will officiate. Burial will
be in the Ramsey Reformed Church Cemetery, rural Titonka. Visitation
is from 5-8:00 p.m., today, Wednesday, at the Winter Funeral Home in
Buffalo Center.

February 13, 2002
NEVIS, MN-Forrest Lunstrum, 94, of Nevis,
Minnesota,
died on Monday, February 4, 2002, at St. Josephs Area Health
Services in Park Rapids, Minnesota.
Funeral services were held on Friday, February 8, at the First Baptist Church in Albert
Lea, Minnesota. Honorary pallbearers were Steven Lunstrum, Jayson Knutson, Carol
Belshan, TJ Baggett, Wally Berntson, Stanford Lunstrum, Harry
Halvorson, Ralph Lunstrum and Glen Lunstrum. Casket bearers were Harry Ruble III, Timothy Ruble, Dennis
Jensen, Richard Jorgensen, Scott Anderson and Peter Berglund. Burial
was in the Lakewood Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Helen of Nevis; son, Steven of Nevis;
five grandchildren, Maj-Stina (Christopher) Rudolph of Van Nuys,
California, Britta Lunstrum of Ithaca, New York, Laurie Belshan of Savannah,
Georgia, Barbara Medina of San Francisco, California and Carol Belshan of
Savannah, Georgia; one great-grandchild, Sydney Rudolph of Van Nuys,
California; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

WODEN-John I. Buns, 85, of Woden,
died on Tuesday, February 5, 2002, at the Westview Care
Center in Britt.
Funeral services were held on
Saturday, February 9, at the St. Johns Lutheran Church in Woden. The Rev. Arlen Lloyd
officiated.
Survivors include his daughter, Mary Walk of Thompson;
three step-children, Kathleen Trenary of Des Moines, George Twedt
and his wife, Vi of Coeur D' Alene, Idaho and Robert Twedt and his
wife, Katie of Ava, Missouri; four step-grandchildren; several
step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Martha Thieben of Woden and
Caroline Bilyeu of Woden; and two sisters-in-law, Violet Buns of
Woden and Mrs. Louise Goetsch of California.

CHICAGO-Mildred M. Anderson Carlsen, 87, of Chicago, passed away
on Wednesday, February 6, 2002.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 9, at
the
Mayfair Lutheran Church in Chicago. Burial was in the Mount Olive Cemetery
in Chicago.
Mildred is survived by her husband, Robert of Chicago; two
sisters, Gladys Ehret of Harwood Heights, Illinois and Thelma Jensen of Elk
Grove Village, Illinois; sister-in-law, Betty Anderson of Britt; three
nieces; one nephew; four grand-nieces; two grand-nephews; and many
cousins.

February 20, 2002
WODEN-Meindert Dirksen, 84, of Woden,
died on Monday, February 11, 2002, at the Kavanaugh Hospice
Inpatient House in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held on
Friday, February 15, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Forest City. The Rev. Doug
Farrell officiated. Burial was in the Bingham Township Cemetery, Woden, with
the
Winter Funeral Home in Buffalo Center in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his children, LeRoy Dirksen of Woden, Jerald Dirksen
and his wife, Elaine of Ankeny, Lenice Reynolds and her husband,
Arthur of Mobile, Alabama, Merlin Dirksen of Woden, Violet Leach and her
husband, Dennis of Des Moines, Arlin Dirksen and his wife, Ruth Anne
of Woden and David Dirksen and his wife, Cheri of Blockton; 17
grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a foster sister, Fanny Janssen
of Buffalo Center; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and
a host of friends.

WESTMINSTER, CA-A
Memorial Mass for Glen Murtagh, 79, of Westminster, California, will be
held at
10:30 a.m., on Saturday, February 16, 2002, at the St. James Catholic Church in Forest
City. The Rev. Craig Steimel will officiate.
Inurnment will be at a later date.
Glen
died on Saturday, December 15, 2001, at the Fountain Valley
Hospital in Fountain City, California.
Glen J. Murtagh, the son of
Frank and Esther (Yarish) Murtagh, was born on August 28, 1922 in
Garner. The family lived around Garner, Clear Lake, Forest City and
Fertile. Murtagh went to Westminster in 1993 to help his brother,
Tom, who was in the last stages of cancer and resided there until
his death.
Survivors include his sister, Lois McColloch of Forest City; three
nephews, Patrick J. McColloch of Carter Lake, Daniel F. McColloch of
Des Moines and Scott M. McColloch of Fertile; a niece, Geraldine
Helfter of Forest City; eight great-nephews and great-nieces; and
many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; a
sister-in-law; and a brother-in-law.

Lucille Horstman, 96
February 20, 2002
BRITT-Lucille A. Horstman, 96, of Britt, passed away on Thursday, February
14, 2002, at the Westview Care Center in Britt.
Funeral services were held on
Monday, February 18, at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Britt, with Father
Marvin Bries officiating. Lector was Kathy Eisenman. Music was provided
by organist, Brenda Smith and vocalist, Jolene Leerar. Honorary
casket bearers were Kathy Eisenman, Jeff Horstman, Jean Ann Bruns, Sara
Gertsema, Ann Hoelscher and Shelly Kuhl. Casket bearers were Vicki Sufferlien, Thomas Looft, Suzanne Horstman, Ryan Kuhl, Michael Horstman
and Kristin Horstman. Ushers were Allan Doughan and John Fangman.
Interment was in the St. Patrick's Church Cemetery.
Lucille is survived by four children, Patricia Looft and husband,
John of Rochester, Minnesota, Paul Horstman and wife, Mildred of Britt,
Robert Horstman and wife, Michele of Britt and Sara Kuhl and husband,
Larry of Seattle, Washington; 12 grandchildren; and 26
great-grandchildren.

Feb. 20, 2002
GRIFFIN, GA-Bradley Bryant of Doraville, Georgia,
formerly of Lake Mills,
died on Sunday, February 17, 2002, at the Gwinnett Medical
Center.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, February 24, at
the McCullough
Funeral Home in Griffin, Georgia. The
Rev. Piece Moore will officiate.
Bradley Bryant, the son of Jim and
Joyce Bryant, was born on March 7, 1962 in Linn County. He graduated from
the
Lake Mills High School in 1980 and Winona State University in 1984.
Bryant was an avid fisherman and a big sports fan.
Survivors include his parents; brothers and sister-in-law, Jeff Bryant
of Davenport and Terry and Dawn Bryant of Cummings, Georgia; nieces, Jennifer
and Sarah Bryant; nephew, Jackson Bryant; and grandmothers, Violet Bryant and Helma Gruhn, both of Hartley.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Harold Bryant and
Ernest Gruhn.

FOREST CITY-Emma Danielson, 91, formerly of Forest
City, presently residing in Ocala, Florida,
died on Monday, February 18, 2002, in Ocala.
Funeral services were held
on
Friday, March 1, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City. The Rev. Lee Laaveg officiated. Music was provided by Michael Danielson who played a
trumpet solo, soloist James Sunde and organist Leonard Markusen. Casket
bearers were Robert Danielson, Sean Fitzsimmons, Wayne Dock, Timothy
Danielson, Brent Fitzsimmons, Harold Sunde and DeWayne Johnson. Burial
was in the Madison Township Cemetery, Forest City, with the Petersen Lund
Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her children and their spouses,
Sherwin and Karen of Colonial Heights, Virginia, Gloria and Dennis
Fitzsimmons of Winter Haven, Florida, Roger and Sherrill of Reddick, Florida
and Arlin and Cathie of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; eight grandchildren; and
three great-grandchildren.

Hospital.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 23, at the Bethel Lutheran Church in
Fergus Falls. A second service was
held on Sunday, February 24, at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home in Forest City. The
Reverends David Veum, Everald Strom, William Colbeck and Omar Gjerness
officiated. Burial was in the Elim Lutheran Cemetery, rural Forest City.
Survivors include two children, Mark A. (Marie) Levang and Linda S.
(James) Bjork, both of Fergus Falls; 11 grandchildren, Renae, Jessica
and Brian Levang, Nathanael, Levi, Katelyn, Kayla, Ellie, Jacob, Samuel
and Peter Bjork; and a sister, Irene Johnson of Fergus Falls.

died on Monday, February 25, 2002, at the Good Shepherd Care
Center in Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00
a.m., on Friday, March 1, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City. The
Rev. Kenneth Hatland will officiate. Burial will be in the Memorial Park
Cemetery. Visitation is from 4-7:00 p.m., on Thursday, at the Major
Erickson Funeral Home in Mason City and one hour prior to
the services at the church on Friday. It was Irene's wish that memorials
be given to the Trinity Lutheran Church or KCMR.

body was cremated, as was her wish. Interment will be in the St. James

the arrangements.

grandchildren, Bob and his wife, Deb and their children, Megan and
Matt of Mason City; Lisa and her husband, Jay Knudtson and their
children, Jill, Joey and Mark of rural Forest City; and Tom and his wife,
Liz of Santa Clara, California; a treasured niece, Marlita and her husband,
