Glenn A. Schlawin, 86, of Garner, died on Thursday, August 1, 2002, at
the Concord Care Center in Garner.
Funeral services were held
on Saturday, August 3, at the Peace Reformed
Church.
The Rev. Jeff DeBoer officiated. Music was provided by organist,
Connie Greiman who accompanied congregational hymns. Ushers were Jerry
Kropp and Bill Katter Sr. Casket bearers were Elwin Etchen, Craig Schlawin,
Dean Stromer, Scott Ollenburg, Dan Ollenburg and Jim Jorgensen. Burial
was in the church cemetery, with the Cataldo Funeral Home in Garner in
charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his three children, Monty Schlawin
and his wife, Darcia of Garner, Sherry Bird of Clear Lake and Gregory Schlawin and his wife, Julie of Garner; seven grandchildren, Shannon Schlawin Thill and her daughter, Shelby, David Bird and his wife, Marie
and their two children, Ashley and Andrew, Steven Bird and his wife,
Jennifer and their two children, Katie and Kory, Matthew Bird, Heath
Hathaway, Jenna Schlawin and Dustin Schlawin; a brother, Kenneth
Schlawin of Garner; a sister-in-law, Nadine Schlawin of Forest City; and
many nieces and nephews.

Elmer Tollagson, 89, of Thompson, died on Friday, August 2, 2002, at the
Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center.
Funeral services were held
on Monday, August 5, at the Bethany Lutheran
Church in Thompson. The Rev. Mark Decker officiated. Burial was in the Rose
Hill Cemetery, Thompson.

Beatrice Tweed, 85, of
Lake Mills, died on Monday, August 5, 2002, at the Muse Norris
Hospice Unit in Mason City.
Funeral services were held
on Thursday, August 8, at the Bethany Lutheran Church in
Joice. The Rev. Elwin Walvatne officiated. Burial was in the Memorial
Park Cemetery in Mason City, with the Mittelstadt Funeral Home in Lake
Mills in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her daughters, Marilyn (Jerry) Hoffman of Lake
Mills, Sharon (Joe) Zabrok of Cottage Grove, Minnesota and Cindy
(Daryl) Hanna of Forest City; nine grandchildren, Michelle (Jeff)
Kelso of Clear Lake, Kristen (Juan) Sierra of Harlingen, Texas,
Travis Hoffman and his fiancée, Ashley Honsey of Lake Mills, Brian Zabrok of Little Canada, Minnesota, Matt Zabrok of Cottage Grove, Minnesota,
Elaina Zabrok of Cottage Grove, Minnesota, Melissa (Sam) Warren of
Forest City, Melanie (Jesse) Olson of Austin, Minnespta and Sharalee
Hanna of Forest City; eight great-grandchildren, Justin, Blake and
Aaron Kelso, Jonathan Warren, Nicholas and Isabel Sierra and Jacob
and Joshua Olson; two sisters, Gladys Lysne of Mason City and May
(Wilbert) Olson of Bella Vista, Arkansas; sisters-in-law, Edna Snell and
Jemima Hanson, both of Mason City; along with several nieces and
nephews.

Richard E. Helland,
65, of Henderson, Nevada, died on Monday, August 5, 2002, at the
Nathan Adelson Hospice of cancer.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on
Friday, August 23, at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in
Thompson. The Rev. Ted Gullixson will officiate. Inurnment will be
in the West Prairie Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the
Thompson VFW and Legion. In lieu of flowers, he requested all memorials be given to the
Alzheimer's Research Institute.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Helland of Henderson, Nevada;
four children, Rick Helland and his fiancée, Blanca of McKinney,
Texas, Wendy Bunch and her husband, Jim of Krum, Texas, Lynette Helland of Ramona, California and Deidra Howland and her husband, Alan
of Santee, California; two sisters, Beverly Olson King and her husband,
Bill of Albert Lea, Minnesota and Vivian Green and her husband, Allen
of Allison; a brother-in-law, Bill Peterson of St. Paul, Minnesota; five
grandchildren, Jake and Jesse Foster of Ramona, California, Christopher
Bunch of Krum, Texas, Silas McNeil of Silverdale, Washington, Amy Heun of
Arizona and Heather McNiel of Maricopa, Arizona; two
step-grandchildren, Tyler and Jessica Howland of Michigan; one
great-granddaughter, Jade Heun; one step-son, Odin Abbott; and many
nieces and nephews.

Helen Friesenborg, 93, of
Thompson, died on Thursday, August 8, 2002, at the Titonka Care
Center, where she became a resident in June.
Funeral services were held on Monday, August 12, at
the Bethany Lutheran Church in
Thompson. The Rev. Mark Decker officiated.
Burial was in the Olena Mound Cemetery, Buffalo Center, with the Winter
Funeral Home in Thompson in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her children, Joyce Johnson of Minneapolis,
Minnesota and Sherman Friesenborg of Thompson; four grandchildren,
Barron Johnson, Lonnie Friesenborg and his wife, Laura, Laura and
her husband, David Kudej and Rhonda and her husband, Paul Newby;
six great-grandchildren, Anton Kudej, Josef Kudej, Sophia Kudej,
Parker Albrant, Mitchell Friesenborg and Brennan Friesenborg; and
one brother, Raymond Olson.

Rev. James E. Albertson,
84, of Fort Dodge, died on Friday, August 9, 2002, at the Friendship
Haven in Fort Dodge.
Funeral services were held
on Tuesday, August 13, at the Forest City
United Methodist Church. The Rev. Gary Marzolf officiated. Burial was in
the Oakland Cemetery, Forest City, with the Petersen Lund Funeral Home in
charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by four children, Wanda Pals of Des Moines, Beth
Erickson and husband Rusty of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Talitha Albertson
of Garner and Jim W. Albertson of Madison, Wisconsin; eight
grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, George Albertson
of Garner; and three sisters, Anna Mae Taylor of Northwood, Tharon
Steinmetz of Forest City and Janice Broom of Nora Springs.

Harry T. Lovik, 91,
died on Sunday, August 11, 2002, at the Boone County Hospital in
Boone.
Memorial services will
be held at 1:30 p.m., on Friday, August 23, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest
City. The Rev. David Samuelson will officiate. The family will
greet friends immediately following the memorial service at the
church. Burial will be in the Pilot Knob Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural
Forest City, following the fellowship hour at the church. The Sundberg-Kirkpatrick
Funeral Home of Madrid is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his three children, Kathryn Olson and her
husband, Don of Forest City, Gary Lovik and his wife, Helen of
Lexington, Kentucky and Ron Lovik and his wife, Jill of Birmingham,
Alabama; three stepchildren, Richard Ryan and his wife, Rayla of
Woodward, Betty Williams and her husband, Dennis of Des Moines and
Sondra Parsons and her husband, Mark of Cypress, California; seven
grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren;
several step-great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren;
one sister, Irene Peterson of Riceville; three brothers, Orville Lovik and his wife, Marjorie of Gulfport, Mississippi, Lloyd Lovik and
his wife, Mary of Bullhead City, Arizona and Virgil Lovik and his
wife, Romane of Fertile; and several nieces and nephews.
The family of Harry T. Lovik has respectfully requested that
memorials be made in his name to the Pilot Knob Lutheran Church
Building Fund or a favorite charity of your choice.

and a sister, Mildred Hulberg of Sauk City, Wisconsin.

89, of Neenah, Wisconsin, died on Monday, August 19, 2002, at the Theda
Clark Medical Center.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on
Friday, August 30, at the Kessler Funeral Home in Neenah. The Rev. David Morton will officiate.
Inurnment will be in the Mt. Olive Cemetery, Westboro, Wisconsin. Friends may call at the funeral home
on Friday, from 1:00 p.m. until the
time of the services.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn (Gerry)
Krug of Neenah and Connie (Roger) Will of Forest City; the mother of
his children, Helen Quade of Oshkosh, Wisconsin; six grandchildren, Beth
(John) Gruber, Craig (Penny) Isaacsen, Kristin Bruckert, Wendy
(John) Hartley, Denise (Mickey) Nuttall and Darin Will; four
great-grandchildren, Arielle, Taeya, Brandon and Baby Hartley; and a
sister and brother-in-law, Gladys (Lloyd) Ruka of Prentice, Wisconsin.

Mildred Crim, 79, of Fort Collins, Colorado, died on Monday, August 19,
2002, after a year-long battle with cancer.
A celebration of life
service was held on Friday, August 23, at the
First United Methodist Church in Fort Collins. The Rev. Rob White officiated.
Interment of cremated remains was to be at a later date in the Fort Logan
National Cemetery.
Survivors includes her daughters, Pamela J. O'Donnell
and her husband, Daniel J. of Denver, Colorado and Nancy Louise Huppert
and her husband, Allen of Littleton, Colorado; two grandsons, D. J.
O'Donnell of Irvine, California and Chad O'Donnell of Denver; and two
granddaughters, Lindsey and Holly Huppert of Littleton.

Flint officiated. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery in Forest City,
with the Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his children, Lisa Ann Cox and Federiko (Fred)
Rendon of Austin, Dorothy Kennelly of Dewey, Oklahoma and Douglas Reinken of Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren, Michael Kennelly,
Miranda Kennelly and Courtney Rendon; two great-grandchildren,
Jylian and Madison Kennelly; his mother, Amy Jamtgaard of Mason
City; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lois and Rodney Carlson of Clear

III and his wife, Corenn; a grandson, Matthew, all of Kalamazoo; a
sister, Mrs. Carol Jean Jensen of Westminster, Colorado; one niece, Laurel
Jensen of Alexandria, Virginia; one nephew, Dana Jensen and his wife,
Catherine; and two great-nieces, Jane and Molly Jenson, all of Indian
Hills, Colorado.

Missoula, Montana and Luella Traxinger of Edmond, Washington; along with
several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

the Hillcrest Cemetery, with military honors accorded. The Bonnerup Funeral
Service of Albert Lea was in charge of the arrangements.
