David LaMoyne
Thompson
April 8, 2010
David
LaMoyne Thompson, age 56, of Clarion, died on Friday, April
2, 2010, in Blairsburg, as a result of a construction
accident.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 7, at the
First Lutheran Church in Clarion, with Pastor Gary Boen
officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion.
David LaMoyne Thompson, was born on May 13, 1953 in Decorah,
Iowa, the son of LaMoyne and Edna (Sylvanus) Thompson. David
graduated from the Thomas Roberts Senior High School in
1971. He attended the University of Northern Iowa for 2 1/2
years where he played football. David was united in marriage
to Diane Louise Stevens on May 26, 1973. To this union two
children were born, Justin and Jessica. The family made
their home in Clarion. David owned and operated Thompson
Construction for 25 years in Clarion and also owned and
operated Thompson Fire Extinguisher Sales & Service for many
years. He was most recently employed by Peterson
Construction of Webster City.
David was a volunteer fireman on the Clarion Volunteer Fire
Department for 30 years. He was a training officer for the
Wright County Search & Rescue Team and also was a fire
instructor for many years. David attended many fire schools
and had most recently received a Firefighter II
Certification. He was currently the secretary of the Wright
County Fireman's Association. David was a member of the
First Lutheran Church.
David's passion in life was his family and firefighting. He
adored spending time with his grandchildren and was looking
forward to the birth of his third grandchild in October. He
enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting, dancing with his wife,
Diane and spending time outdoors, snowmobiling and building
things in the workshop with his grandson, Bryan.
David is survived by his wife, Diane of Clarion; son, Justin
Thompson and his wife, Nikki; daughter, Jessica Sullivan and
husband, Randall of Fort Dodge; two grandsons and a
grandchild to be born in October; one brother, Michael
Thompson and wife, Chris of Decorah; parents, LaMoyne and
Edna Thompson of Decorah; and aunts, uncles, nieces,
nephews, numerous cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert and
Leona Thompson; grandparents, Fern Sylvanus and William
Sylvanus; and fathers-in-law, Allen Lien and Arlan Stevens.

Donald George
Strever
April 29, 2010
Donald George Strever, 72, of Comfort, Texas, died on
Friday, April 2, 2010.
Graveside services and
Interment will take place at a later date in his home town
of Clarion.
Donald was born in
Clarion, the son of Victor Earl Strever and Barbara Elaine
Duitcher. He grew up and attended high school in Clarion.
After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in Des Moines
on June 20, 1956. He spent over twenty years before his
retirement at the Naval Air Station, Alameda, California on
August 9, 1976, attaining the rank of Senior Chief Air
Traffic Controlman. While in the service, he was awarded the
Navy Meritorious Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal;
Vietnam Occupation Medal; Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with
Palm; Unit Citation Medal; National Defense Medal and Good
Conduct Medal. After his naval retirement he went to work
for Cascade Gas as a customer service specialist and gas
load specialist, where he retired.
Donald married Phyllis Ann
Fairburn on October 16, 2000 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
He was preceded in death
by his parents; and a brother-in-law, Sid Ketchum.
Survivors include his
wife, Phyllis Ann Strever of Comfort, Texas; daughter and
spouse, Kelly and Allen Gillman of San Diego, California;
one grandson; two sisters and spouses, Ardith and Eugene
Frohling of Clarion and Barbara Ketchum of Hayden Lake,
Idaho; and brother-in-law and spouse, Robert and Donna
Bookman of Kennedy, Texas.

Katherine Pearl
Pyle
April 8, 2010
Katherine Pearl Pyle, age 84, of Clarion, passed away on
Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010, at the Careage of Clarion.
Funeral services were held on Friday, April 9, at the Holmes
Lutheran Church, at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Rich Taylor
officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion.
Katherine was born on June 5, 1925, at the home of her
parents, Michael Nathan Albert and Evelyn Vera (Wickline)
Michelsen. She was three months old when her family moved to
a farm south of Kanawha where she spent her childhood. She
attended country school at Amsterdam No. 9 and in 1942
graduated from the Kanawha High School. After high school
she worked at Hinson Mfg. Company in Waterloo and the P&G
store in Clarion. Katherine and Raymond Pyle were married on
September 30, 1944. In 1946, they bought their farm in
Dayton Township and spent 54 years farming and raising six
children.
Katherine lived in Wright
County for over 50 years and was active in Wright County
Farm Bureau's young people's group, Birthday Club, 4-H and
DELL Club. She was a breast cancer survivor. She was a
member of the Holmes Lutheran Church. In 2003, she moved
into a condo in Ankeny and lived there until the summer of
2009 when she moved to the Careage of Clarion. She was
eldest of two children.
Katherine is survived by five children, Donna (Hamid) Ullah
of Whitakers, North Carolina, Barb (Michael) Aubrey of
Ankeny, David (Dawn) Pyle of Marshalltown, Sharon (Jeff)
Montgomery of Belmond and Betty (Butch) Niehaus of Clarinda;
16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces
and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond
in 1999; in-laws, Merle and Hattie Pyle; one brother, Howard
Michelsen; two brothers-in-law, Robert Pyle and George Pyle;
two daughters, Diane Pyle in 1947 and Mary Pomerleau in
1995; and one grandson, Brandon Pyle in 1978.

Herbert Leroy Tew
April 15, 2010
Herbert Leroy Tew, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2010,
at the Wright Medical Center. He was 89 years old.
A private memorial service was held at the Ewing Funeral
Home on Saturday, April 10. Interment was in the Evergreen
Cemetery in Clarion, on Monday, April 12.
Herb was born on February 26, 1921 in Grinnell, Iowa, the
son of Donald, Sr. and Evelyn (Evans) Tew. He attended
school in Grinnell and graduated from the Grinnell High
School in 1939. Following graduation, he worked as a setup
man for John Deere until World War II when he enlisted in
the Navy. He served at Pearl Harbor, arriving shortly after
the attack where he served as an activation mechanic. He and
his father, Don, were both members of the John Deere 600 Man
Battalion during World War II.
He married Edna L. Zeigler on December 16, 1948 at the St
John's Lutheran Church in Corwith. Herb and Edna lived in
Huxley and Kanawha, where Herb worked as a John Deere
mechanic before settling in Clarion where he worked for
Claude Banwell John Deere until it closed. He then worked
for Clarion's Massey Ferguson and as a shop mechanic for
Wright County until he retired in 1985.
Herb is survived by his children, Paul (Pam) Tew, Dwight
(Roberta) Tew and Carol VanDyke; eight grandchildren; 17
great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald Tew, Jr. and Wayne
(Lynn) Tew; one sister, Maxine Reediz; sister-in-law, Maxine
Zeigler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary Alice Brandt
April 15, 2010
Mary Alice Brandt, age 97, of Clarion, passed away on
Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home,
Eagle Grove.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 17, at
10:00 a.m., at the First Lutheran Church, Clarion, with
Pastor Bill Granger officiating. Burial will take place in
the Memorial Park Cemetery, Fort Dodge, at 1:30 p.m., on
Saturday. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 16, from
5-7:00 p.m., at the Ewing Funeral Home and will continue one
hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.
Mary Alice (Gleason) Brandt, was born on January 27, 1913 in
Fort Dodge, the daughter of Mary and Morris (Kester)
Gleason. She graduated from the Fort Dodge High School. Mary
was united in marriage to Albert Brandt on June 24, 1933, at
the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Fort Dodge. Mary and Albert
farmed in Iowa until retirement to Clarion in 1974.
They were members of the
First Lutheran Church in Clarion. Mary was very active in
the church, Navy mothers and local volunteer organizations.
She particularly enjoyed making quilts by hand for family
and friends.
Mary is survived by her children, James (Carol) of Duncombe,
Morris (Judy) of Clarion, Barbara (Roger) Stenberg of
Leland, Ron (Jan) of Cedar Rapids, Gaylord (Nancy) of Egg
Harbor Township, New Jersey and Gesche Holland of Buffalo,
Minnesota; 19 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 18
great-great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces,
nephews, other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert in
1999; son, Philip; grandson, Victor; two brothers; and two
sisters.

James C. Russell,
Jr.
April 29, 2010
James C. Russell, Jr., formerly of Clarion and Eagle Grove,
passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2010, in Palmer, Alaska.
Funeral services were held last week in Palmer, Alaska. A
memorial gathering in memory of Jim will be held on Thursday
evening, April 29, from 5-7:00 p.m., in the chapel of the
Eagle Grove United Methodist Church.
Jim was born on May 3, 1946 in Waukesha, Wisconsin. He was
the son of Rev. J. Curtiss and Betty Samuels Russell. He
lived in Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska and Alaska. He
graduated from the Clarion High School in 1964. He was a
member of the Iowa National Guard. He worked in a number of
sales positions throughout his adult life.
Jim is survived by his wife, Val; daughters, Ann (Chad)
Wilde of Eagle Grove and Sara (Jeremy) Abbas of Kanawha;
sons, Bryan (Lisa) Russell of Eagle Grove and Adam (Johanna)
Russell of Forest City; step-son, Aaron of Palmer, Alaska;
and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Marcelene "Marcy" Hitt

Marcelene "Marcy" Hitt, 79, of Dows, died on Monday, April
19, 2010, at the Wright Medical Center in Clarion.
Funeral services were held
on Friday, April 23, at the Presbyterian Church in Dows.
Marcelene
"Marcy" Jean Jacobsen, was born on January 27, 1931, on the
family farm north of Dows, the daughter of John R. and
Caroline (Horstman) Jacobsen. Marcie attended and graduated
from the Dows High School. She married Russ Braun on January
27, 1950. She moved to Clarion and later returned to Dows to
raise her family. After separating from Russ, she moved to
Texas where she met Kent Hitt. Eventually she returned to
Iowa moving back to Dows to help care for her mother.
She was united in marriage
to Kent in November 1984. Marcy was a lifelong homemaker who
was a loving mother who focused much of her devotion and
energies on providing for the needs of her family. Most of
her life had revolved around supporting her children and
grandchildren in their many endeavors.
In earlier life she had
enjoyed tap dancing and later on throughout her life, Marcy
looked forward to any opportunity to go out dancing. She had
been active in the Pony Express organizations and Ladies
Legion Auxiliary and the Presbyterian Church of Dows.
Marcy had a fondness in
her heart for all animals and truly cherished her pet dogs,
cats and parrots during her life. Marcy had lived on her own
in her home in Dows until January of this year, when she
became a resident of the Care Center in Clarion.
She was preceded in death
by her parents, John and Carrie Jacobsen; brother, Daryne
Jacobsen; infant son, Vint Allen Braun; and her second
husband, Kent Hitt.
Survivors include her
sons, Lynn and Cathy Braun, Clint Braun, Kyle and Jodi
Braun; daughters, Josie Tripp and life partner, Wayne Pratt,
America Tripp and Kelly Tripp, Dawn Isaacson and Steve, Tara
Johnson and Nicole Isaacson; son, Chad Braun and Jodi; 15
grandchildren; 2 nephews; and first husband, Russ Braun.

Dean L. Loux
April 29, 2010
Dean L. Loux, passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at the
Taylor House.
Funeral services were held
on Friday, April 23, at the Lighthouse Community Church, Des
Moines, with military honors and burial in the Carlisle
Cemetery.
Dean proudly served his
country in the Navy and was employed as an electrician with
Western Electric for 30 years. He was involved with the
Telephone Pioneers of America and American Legion Post 391
PMCKS.
Dean will be remembered as
a loving family man who enjoyed working with wood. He will
be missed by all who knew him.
Dean is survived by his
loving wife of 54 years, Elizabeth; daughter, Patty (Rich)
Andrus and one grandson, all of Carlisle; and two sisters,
Annie Larson of Aurelia and Iola Isenberger of Osage.

Merle E. Sheets
April 29, 2010
Merle E. Sheets, age 90, passed away at the Careage of
Clarion on Wednesday, April 21, 2010.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 24, at the
United Methodist Church, Goldfield, with Pastor Dale
Schoening officiating. Burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery,
Goldfield. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the
family.
Merle E. Sheets, was born on June 29, 1919 in Mount Rose,
Missouri, the son of John B. and Ethel (Paskin) Sheets. He
moved to Goldfield as a small child and lived there most of
his life. Merle served in the United States Army during
World War II from 1942 until 1945. On November 23, 1946,
Merle was united in marriage with Bonnie J. Lewis at the
Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple resided and
farmed in Goldfield, retiring in 1995.
Merle was a member of the United Methodist Church in
Goldfield and the American Legion Post #370. He loved his
family and spending time outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant twin sister,
Mae; brother, Virgil Sheets during World War II; sister,
Alice Waddell; son-in-law, Dean Stephens; infant grandson,
Blaine Stephens and grandson, Levi Sheets.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Sheets of Goldfield;
daughters, Karren J. Stephens of Clear Lake and Sandra K.
Sheets of Elk River, Minnesota; sons, Tom M. Sheets and
wife, Claudia of LeMars and Gary E. Sheets and wife, Sue of
Clovis, California; 24 grandchildren and
great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Beulah Williamson
of Mason City, Lila Ortman of Washburn, Raymond and Marge
Sheets of Goldfield and John and Lois Sheets of Eagle Grove;
and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Marlene Dee
Lockwood
April 29, 2010
Marlene Dee Lockwood, 69, of Clarion, passed away on
Thursday, April 22, 2010, at the Wright Medical Center in
Clarion, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 27, at the
Church of Christ in Clarion, with Pastor Warren Curry
officiating. Burial took place in the Evergreen Cemetery in
Clarion.
Marlene Dee (Witherell) Lockwood, was born on September 4,
1940 in Clarion, to Edwin M. and Olive B. (White) Witherell.
She grew up in and attended school in Clarion, graduating
from high school in 1959. At the age of five, her father
passed away. Marlene continued to live with her mother
through the years, as a devoted daughter until her mother
passed away. Marlene worked for an insurance company for a
short while in Belmond. She began employment at the nursing
home in Clarion as a caring, compassionate nurse's aide for
39 years. She retired in 2005.
On October 25, 1974, Marlene married John L. Lockwood at the
Church of Christ in Clarion. They made their home at Lake
Cornelia. She continued to live there after John died in
1992. She and John enjoyed dancing, riding their motorcycles
with friends and spending time with family. They belonged to
a buckskinners' group in which they were truly in their
element as they traveled to local, state and national
rendezvous events within the U. S. In the years following
John's death, Marlene has enjoyed the friendship bonds that
have stayed intact.
The past few years Marlene has had fun as a member of a Red
Hat Ladies group of Lake Cornelia, as she participated in
the many activities. Marlene also treasured the friendship
of a group of gals whom called themselves the Golden Girls.
A bond cultivated through the years of working together at
the Clarion Care Center and these gals continued to meet
regularly for dinner and stayed in contact by phone.
She will be missed by her fellow dialysis mates with whom
she traveled to Mason City three days a week for treatment,
as well as the group of volunteer "angels" who helped her
with transportation three days per week to either meet the
bus at Goodell, or travel to Mason City.
Marlene was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in
Clarion. She was always at service in whatever capacity she
was able.
Although Marlene did not experience motherhood bearing
biological children, when she married John she inherited two
sons and one daughter and a few grandchildren. Through the
years this family grew to include the joy of ten
grandchildren and twenty-one precious great-grandchildren.
Marlene is survived by a close cousin, Audri Adams of
Chicago, Illinois; two stepsons, Jerry R. (Arlene) Lockwood
of Clarion and Jan L. (Julie) Lockwood of Phoenix, Arizona;
and one stepdaughter, Jeanne Gutknecht of Reinbeck, Iowa.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband,
John on April 25, 1992; a stepson, Jeffrey L. Lockwood; and
a daughter-in-law, Angela Lockwood.

Eugene E. Christ
April 29, 2010
Eugene Elmer Christ, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2010,
at the Paula J. Baber Hospice House in Fort Dodge, at the
age of 91 years.
Funeral services were held
on Tuesday, April 27, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in
Eagle Grove, with Pastor Chris Lang officiating. Burial was
in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Memorials may be
left to the discretion of the family.
Gene the son of George
August and Victoria (Mabus) Christ, was born on April 14,
1919, in Lakota. He married Lillian C. Bailey and they made
their first home in Albert Lea, Minnesota. In 1948, they
along with Jim and Irene Lichliter moved to Eagle Grove and
founded the Christ/Lichliter Gambles' Hardware Store, also
selling furniture. In 1977, Gene and Lillian continued the
business as Christ Furniture and in 1984, sold the business
to their son, Jim Christ.
After their retirement,
Gene and Lillian traveled south for the winters and enjoyed
traveling and ballroom dancing in the United States and
abroad and meeting new friends in the process.
Gene was a member of the
Evangelical Lutheran Church, served one term on the Eagle
Grove City Council and enjoyed gardening.
He was preceded in death
by his parents; wife Lillian on January 5, 2009; brother,
Raymond Christ and sister Irene Lichliter.
Survivors include his two
sons, Tom Christ and wife, Gail of Des Moines and Jim Christ
and wife, Gayle of Eagle Grove; four grandchildren; one
great-granddaughter; brother, David Christ of Wells,
Minnesota; sister-in-law, Alice Daffinrud of Albert Lea,
Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews.

Paula Ann (Binnebose)
Johnson
April 29, 2010
Paula Ann (Binnebose) Johnson, 53, of Belmond, went home to
heaven on Sunday, March 8, 2009.
Memorial services will be
held on Saturday, May 1, 2010, at 10:30 a.m., at the St.
Olaf Lutheran Church, rural Belmond, with Reverend James
Harbaugh and Reverend James Gochenouer officiating.
Inurnment will take place in the St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery
at a later date. Visitation will be held on Friday, April
30, from 5-7:00 p.m., at the St. Olaf Lutheran Church and
one hour prior to the services at the church.
Paula was born on February
10, 1956, to Neil and Betty (Jorgenson) Binnebose in
Marshall, Minnesota. The family moved to Mason City where
Paula graduated from high school in 1973. After graduation,
Paula met and fell in love with Dallas Johnson. Dallas and
Paula were married at the St. James Lutheran Church in Mason
City, on October 15, 1977. Afterwards, the couple resided on
the family farm outside of Belmond for many years.
Their unending love
produced three children, Elizabeth, Kyle and Seth. As a
testament to her strength, Paula accomplished her dream of
becoming a Registered Nurse while raising her three
children. Paula was a dedicated and compassionate nurse at
the Belmond Health Care Center. She placed her patients
first and was always willing to help others.
Paula enjoyed spending
time with her family the most. She was an avid reader and
enjoyed traveling, cooking, baking, making crafts and most
of all talking to others. Her camera was never far away, as
she loved capturing memories over the years. Paula always
had a cheerful personality and could be counted on to
provide support to anyone who needed it. She focused her
life around helping others and her impact is evident in the
countless lives she touched. Paula's legacy of selflessness
and caring for others leaves many people with a lifetime
full of memories. Left to cherish her life is her grateful
family and community.
Paula's family includes
her devoted husband, Dallas; loving children, Elizabeth,
Kyle (Lisa) and Seth; father, Neil; sister, Karen (Ron)
Bull; brothers, Craig (Janelle) and Mark; and other
countless family members, friends and coworkers.
She was preceded in death
by her mother, Betty Binnebose; and her father and
mother-in-law, Harris and Minnie Johnson.

Marian Voecks
May 6, 2010
A memorial service for Marian Voecks, was held in Grimes,
Iowa, on Saturday, April 10, 2010. Marian died of a massive
stroke on Friday, January 15, in LaFeria, Texas. She was 72.
Marian was born in
Youngstown, Ohio, on July 4, 1937 to Fay and Gladys Gardner.
The family moved to Clarion in 1942. Marian graduated from
the Clarion High School in 1955 and worked for the Bell
Telephone Co. She moved to Grimes in 1959, where she raised
2 daughters, was a leader in the Camp Fire Girls
organization and eventually worked for the Super Value Corp.
as a switchboard operator/receptionist.
She married Cliff Voecks
in 1977. Cliff was a truck driver for Super Valu. After
retiring, they enjoyed traveling to Texas during the winter
where they were able to reconnect with several Clarion
friends.
Marian was proceeded in
death by her parents; two brothers, Donald and Roger; and a
stepdaughter, Deanna Voecks.
She is survived by her
husband, Cliff; two daughters, Diane (Doug) Buster of
Chicago and LeAnn (Rex) Hewitt of San Benito, Texas; three
grandchildren; one-great-grandson; three step-children; six
step-grandchildren; one brother, Dick (Sharon) Gardner of
Clarion; and two nieces and five nephews.
Memorial contributions may
be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Grimes, Iowa.

Keith Paul Hecox
May 6, 2010
Keith Paul Hecox 84, of Maryville, Missouri, passed away on
Friday, April 23, 2010, at The Palms in Henderson, Nevada.
Keith's body has been
cremated under the direction of the Bram-Danfelt Funeral
Home, Inc. Please come celebrate and remember Keith's life
with the family. A memorial visitation will be held on
Saturday, May 8, from 10:30 a.m. until noon, at the Bram-Danfelt
Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri.
Keith was born in Clarion
on March 10, 1926, to Paul and Golda Hecox. They preceded
him in death. Shortly after graduating from the Clarion High
School in 1944, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He joined the
Ninety Seventh Infantry Division and in February 1945 left
for overseas. He landed in LaHarve, France and helped clean
up the Roer River Valley. From there he went into Southern
Germany and finally into Czechoslovakia. Keith loved his
country and was very proud to serve it.
After the war, Keith
enrolled at The University of Dubuque for two years and then
transferred to the University of Iowa, where he received his
B.S. in Business. He married Beverly Sumners on August 12,
1951 and they were happily married until her death in 2007.
Keith and Beverly moved to
Maryville, where he worked for the DeKalb Seed Company as a
District Sales Manager and they raised their family. Keith
adored his wife and five children and had a fond interest
for farming and agriculture. His family will remember him
for his kindness, affection, great sense of humor and his
extreme generosity.
He is survived by his
children, Cristi (Mark) Leafstedt of Flagstaff, Arizona,
Kimberly (Bill) Kincade of Council Bluffs, Dr. William (Lan)
Hecox of Springfield, Missouri, Robert (Molly) Hecox of
Liberty, Missouri and Cathy Jones of Henderson, Nevada; and
his brother, Dale Hecox. He was a loving grandfather whose
14 grandchildren have many wonderful memories of him. He is
also survived by his 2 great-grandchildren and numerous
nieces and nephews whom he loved.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents; his brother,

Hazel N. Brock

Hazel
N. Brock, 85, of Woolstock, died on Thursday, April 29,
2010, at Crestview Senior Living.
Funeral services were held
on Monday, at the Foster Chapel, with Rev. Bill Van Nostrand
officiating. Burial was in the French Cemetery, east of
Woolstock.
Hazel Nellie Schutt,
daughter of Christian and Emma Loux Schutt, was born on
October 26, 1924 on a farm northeast of
Woolstock. She received
her education and graduated from the Woolstock High School,
where she was valedictorian of her class. Hazel attended
Monmouth University in Monmouth, Illinois, where she majored
in education. On August 18, 1946, she married Roger Roscoe
Brock at the St. Peters Lutheran Church in Woolstock. Hazel
accepted a position as a bookkeeper at the Woolstock Farmers
Cooperative. She held that position for 38 years until her
retirement in 2000. She also served as the city clerk of
Woolstock for over 53 years. Mr. Brock died on March 14,
1994.
Hazel was a member of the
St. Peters Lutheran Church, friends of the Ban De La Roche,
B.P.W.; the St. Peters Lutheran Church ladies aide, all of
Woolstock. Her memberships also included the Wright County
Republican Women, the Woolstock American Legion Auxiliary
and she was the Secretary for the Woolstock School Board.
Survivors include her
sons, Larry (Alice) Brock of Oskaloosa and Keith (Patsy)
Brock of Webster City; daughter, Connie (Mark Anderson)
Brock of Woolstock; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-granddaughters;
brothers, Ilo (Marilyn) Schutt of Woolstock, Deslyn Schutt
of Clarion and Eldred (Beverly) Schutt, also of Clarion; and
many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her
husband, Roger; she was preceded in death by her parents; a
brother in infancy, George W. Schutt; brothers, Herbert,
Charles, Martin and Celestian (Buster) Schutt; and her
sister, Emma Potter.
