Georgia Mae Humphrey
Georgia Mae Humphrey, 75, of Goldfield, died on
Thursday, August
15, 2002.
Funeral services were held on Monday, August 19, at the Willim
Funeral Home in Clarion. Pastor Gary Boen officiated at the 10:00 a.m.
service. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion. The Willim Funeral
Home of Clarion was in charge of the arrangements.
Georgia Mae Schribner, was born on October 27, 1927, in LuVerne, the
daughter of George H. and Josephine (Hurt) Scribner. After the death
of her father in 1931, the family moved to Algona where Georgia
graduated from the Algona High School in 1945.
On April 25, 1946, Georgia and Robert L. Humphrey were united in
marriage in Algona. The couple moved to Clarion in 1954. In addition
to raising six children, Georgia worked at various retail jobs in
the Clarion area. After the death of Robert in 1979, Georgia married
Merle D. Humphrey on April 23, 1982, in Las Vegas, Nevada. They made
their home in Harker Heights, Texas for 14 years before moving to
Goldfield in 1995 to be closer to their family.
She is survived by her husband, Merle of Goldfield; one daughter, Monna Gardalen and husband, Dennis of Clarion; three sons, Randy
Humphrey and wife, Sandra of Mason City, Douglas Humphrey and wife,
Donna of Sierra Vista, Arizona and Don Humphrey of Belmond;
daughter-in-law, Lori Humphrey of Clarion; 12 grandchildren; seven
great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marie Boyce of Walnut Grove,
Illinois, Bernice Hugeland of Algona and Betty Peterson of Algona; two
brothers, Merle Scribner of Des Moines and Ed Scribner of Escondido,
California; and many nieces and nephews.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob;
daughter, Lynn Marie; son, Mitchell; and three sisters; and two
brothers.

Lynn E. Mechem
August 29, 2002
Lynn Mechem, age 89, of Clarion, passed away on
Tuesday,
August 20, 2002, at his home in rural Clarion.
Memorial services were held on Friday, August 23, at the Clarion
Church of Christ, with Rev. Tim Platt officiating. Burial was in the
Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.
Lynn E. Mechem, was born on November 22, 1912, to Arthur and Grace Yocum Mechem in Lincoln Township, Wright County, Iowa. He attended
local schools and attended high school in Clarion.
He grew up on the farm and always enjoyed everything it had to
offer. He married Inez P. Hagen on November 24, 1944 in Dows.
Lynn enjoyed showing and riding horses and took great pride in his
family and his farm. He enjoyed passing on all that he had learned
whether it was about crops, livestock or showing and riding horses
to his children and grandchildren.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, past member of the Al Kahir
Shrine, the Wright County Shrine, life time member of the Church of
Christ, past Deacon of the Church of Christ, past leader of the
Wright County 4-H Horse and Pony Club and a member of the Wright
County Extension Council.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Inez; one son, Michael
and his wife, Sue of Clarion; one daughter, Hollie Smith and her
husband, Dennis of Estherville; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Max Mechem;
and one sister, Orel Caster.

Wayne Wilson
September 5, 2002
Wayne Wilson, 86, of Clarion, died on Wednesday,
August 28, 2002, at the USA Healthcare, Clarion.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 31, at the First United
Methodist Church, Clarion. Rev. LaVonne Kaasa officiated at the 1:30
p.m. service. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion. The Willim
Funeral Home of Clarion was in charge of the arrangements.
Wayne Wilson, was born on November 29, 1915 in Hamilton County, the
son of Samuel and Hattie Eaton Wilson. He attended local schools in
Hamilton County and then worked on the family farm. He also helped
many neighbors with farming. He enlisted in the United States Marine
Corps on September 10, 1942. He served in Boganville and Guam. He
returned to the United States and was honorably discharged on
September 15, 1945. He then continued farming in Hamilton County
until moving to Clarion in 1951.
Wayne was united in marriage to Jean State on January 9, 1954. He
owned and operated Wayne's Tap until his retirement in 1981.
He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and First United
Methodist Church, Clarion.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Jean of Clarion; two daughters,
Pam Buggs and husband, Tom of Cottage Grove, Minnesota and Mel Wilson
of Newton; one son, John Wilson and wife, Kelley of Eugene, Oregon;
six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Ray Wilson
and wife, Joy of Webster City; two sisters, Edna Estlund of Webster
City and Eula Emery of Des Moines; two sisters-in-law, Jeri Wilson
of Texas and Flossie Wilson of Webster City; and many nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and five brothers.
