What type of information can be found in these documents?

Barb Moreau of Mason City (Iowa)will discuss abstracting in general-what it is and how it is done. We can learn from property abstracts and land records in Cerro Gordo County. 

She will bring examples of old and new abstracts to illustrate how and why abstracting has changed over the years. Barb shows genealogists how to benefit from the facts recorded in your old abstract.

Need help with your genealogy search? The North Central Iowa Genealogical Society will be offering a training workshop on the resources and help available for tracing your family tree. This workshop is free and open to the public.

The session will last about an hour and a half. The first part of the workshop will emphasize how to use our local library collection; the second part will concentrate on Internet research.

Reserve your seat ahead of time. Deadline for reservations is Wednesday, February 1,2012.
